What will the houses built for living on the moon be like?
Designs for 3D-printed homes for humans living on the Moon and Mars in the future have emerged. Under NASA’s Sentinel Challenge, expert designers and engineers were tasked with developing residential structures for ‘deep space missions’ that could be built using 3D printing. The challenge lasted for four years.
The designs submitted to the competition reflect what kind of homes humans traveling in space could live in in the future. The special thing about these homes is that they can be printed with minimal human intervention.
According to NASA, these space homes will preferably be built from local resources (such as soil on the Moon or Mars) to reduce the need to carry additional equipment from Earth.
Senior NASA official Steve Jurzik said that housing is a basic requirement for human presence in space, but spaceships are limited in space and weight. He said that for this reason, technology is being developed that can combine the materials brought with them with the resources available there.
According to him, if recycling can be done on Earth, why not on Mars?
Although there is no definitive guarantee that these designs will be able to practically reach the Moon or Mars. However, these concepts are an important step towards future space colonization and could become the basis for human life on planets in the future.

The contest was actually, a Centennial Challenge not a "Sentinel Challenge". As an aside, Steve Jurczyk not (Jurzik), apparently died in 2023, so it should be noted that this was not a recent quote.
It actually is an interesting topic, but we expect original articles in this community, not just paraphrasing of articles that already exist somewhere else.
