In practice, how far a rock or a moon can orbit Jupiter is around 53 million kilometers, and supposedly the deviation that 3I/Atlas had at perihelion placed this interstellar object just to pass within that radius of Jupiter's gravitational influence.
But a finding that was reported yesterday by the Alma observatory reported that 3I/Atlas had found simpler values that exist and hydrogen cyanide molecules have also been discovered, because they are organic molecules, they have compounds, they have carbon in their composition and they are molecules that have already been found in other comets in the solar system, but in this case they are what has been detected in 3I/Atlas, the purest and most enriched that have ever been found.
Both molecules, methanol and hydrogen cyanide, are dangerous, methanol, even if it is alcohol, don't even think about drinking it, because you can literally go blind, hydrogen cyanide is deadly, they are toxic for current developed life and for ours, but those two molecules for astrobiologists, that is, scientists who are in charge of searching for life in the cosmos and also to seek an explanation for how life arose on Earth, are considered basic organic molecules or precursors to build the fundamental bricks of life, such as amino acids, nucleic bases, and with them RNA and finally DNA, all of which finally allowed the development of life on the Early Earth.
I find this analysis very interesting and it came out very quickly, but it states for the first time that an interstellar object contains precursors to life, essential materials for life to emerge, and it is amazing. In the comets of the solar system we have already found all the bases for building RNA, that is, the basis of life, but if we find it in 3I/Atlas, which is much older than the Earth and the solar system, it is estimated that it is at least 7,000 million years old, it means that where it came from there were also the same elements for life to form.
It is amazing that 7,000 million years ago or more a planet could have formed with all the elements for life to arise on it, forms of life that if they continue to exist would have thousands of years of evolution greater than ours and this is just the beginning.
Currently there is still speculation that it is really 3I/Atlas, many objects with large amounts of ice are very varied, there can be anything and many of them are planetesimals, especially when they are young systems, planetesimals are the essential elements or building bricks of planets and in them they are not the same as many comets that we have here in the solar system, except for those in the Oort cloud, which are believed to be those remains that have also been left out there.
They can all have different compositions, they can have large amounts of carbon compounds, it all depends on the chemical composition of the system where they were formed, so it can be many things because a comet is not an object, it is an activity, beyond the snow line of the solar system, there are an infinite number of different objects, and if any of them, objects that are neither dwarf planets, nor planets, nor moons, but if any of them crosses that snow line and approaches Mars or Earth, it would begin to have cometary activity. and that is when we call them comets.
In short, and in short, what was going to happen near Jupiter has always been known, and we knew it because Avi Loeb proposed at the beginning of August, the plan to divert NASA's Juno spacecraft so that it would more or less intercept 3I/Atlas taking advantage of the fact that it was going to pass about 53.00 km from Jupiter, which was more or less the calculation that was made at the beginning, and that it would be on March 16, 2026, It was also known, all that is nothing new.
