Autonomy at any size

Without any human operating.

A company called Oxa, specialized in autonomous driving technology, has just received an investment of more than $100 million to focus on the automation of repetitive tasks within industrial environments. We are talking about vehicles that operate within factories, logistics centers and private areas, transporting loads, towing equipment and monitoring space without the need for a human driver.

At the center of all this is a system called Oxa Driver, a software capable of completely controlling a vehicle from the perception of the environment to decision making and movement control, unlike traditional solutions, it can adapt different types of vehicles, according to the company, it can already be implemented in more than 20 different categories, from small logistics vehicles to larger machines used in industrial operations.

What really sets this technology apart is the way it is trained. Oxa uses tools based on artificial intelligence to create digital twins of real environments, that is, digital versions of factories and logistics centers, these simulated environments allow the system to learn to operate before even being placed in the real world, in addition, the company offers a platform called Oxahub, a cloud system that allows managing entire fleets of autonomous vehicles with real-time monitoring, task planning and even remote assistance.

In the real world, this means that an entire operation can be coordinated digitally without the need for human drivers in each vehicle, although the main focus is the industrial environment, the technology has already begun to appear on the streets, in 2025, the company implemented an autonomous public transport service in Northern Ireland, small electric buses circulating independently and connecting strategic points in the city, but as the vehicles begin to operate in controlled environments, a much greater challenge arises. What will happen when these machines really have to share spaces with us humans?
