The new line of custom bunkers.

For Floods, Earthquakes, and Attacks

Traditionally, concrete bunkers were considered the ultimate solution for surviving wars, attacks, or major natural disasters, but these shelters have obvious limitations: they are expensive, take a long time to build, and remain fixed in one place. Now, a French startup aims to completely change this concept.

Momentum Technologies has unveiled the Lifepods, survival capsules designed to keep people alive when all surrounding infrastructure fails. Instead of building permanent shelters, the proposal is to create modular structures that can be mass-produced, transported by truck, ship, or aircraft, and quickly deployed wherever needed.

Unveiled at international trade shows such as Aeroctory and Vivotech, the Lifepods were developed precisely with this philosophy in mind: to offer immediate protection in scenarios where every minute can make a difference. The land-based version, called the B01, focuses its engineering on ballistic and thermal resistance; its hull uses special high-strength steel alloys combined with insulating materials capable of withstanding severe impacts and extreme temperatures.

According to the company, the capsule meets the VPAM PM7 ballistic standard and is designed to withstand even rifle fire; the interior was designed to shelter occupants from explosions, fire, and shrapnel, functioning as a compact shelter for emergency situations. Meanwhile, the W-01 model was conceived for a completely different challenge: surviving the force of water during flash floods, dam breaches, or even tsunamis.

Its floating structure uses hydrodynamic principles to remain stable, even in strong currents; the rounded hull helps deflect logs, rocks, and other debris carried by the water, while its shape distributes thrust evenly, significantly reducing the risk of capsizing. The capsule has enough space for up to four adults and four children, allowing for the storage of essential supplies during a prolonged emergency.

Although marketed as civil protection solutions, Lifepods are also attracting interest from governments, strategic companies, and organizations responsible for critical infrastructure. In France, the B-01 model has a starting price of around €29,000, while the W-01 floating version ranges from €35,000 to €40,000.
