Humanoid robots for the Octagon.

And while the world is impressed with a dancing robot, engineers are already transforming that skill into an entire sport, and the company EngineAI has just transformed what seemed like just viral marketing into something much more serious, a real arena where humeroid robos are going to fight, fall, get up, deal blows to each other and evolve in front of the entire world.

During an event in Shensen, the company officially presented the URKL League, an international combat league between bipedal robots that promises to accelerate the development of robotics in the same way that Formula 1 boosted the automotive industry and to make clear the size of the ambition, the championship will have a gold belt valued at about 1.4 million dollars.

The proposal is ambitious like any contact sport, the league will bring together 16 teams from universities, companies and research centers divided into groups and eliminations until a champion is reached, but different from competitions like BattleBots, the focus will not be on destroying the opponent with aggressive modifications.

The main objective is in the software, balance and movement intelligence, the rules make it clear, each game will be at best three rounds with 5 minutes of real combat per round, if the robot falls, it has 10 seconds to get up on its own, failing means depending on limited manual resets and the limit is exceeded, it is technical knockout, battery change during the round prohibited. That is to say, it's not just a fight, it's an extreme test of body control, energy efficiency and physical endurance.

The main star is the TH00 humanoid equipped with maximum torque of 450 Nm, modular batteries and active cooling systems, each fall, impact and recovery inside the ring works as a real experiment to develop robots that in the future will work in factories, shops and unpredictable human environments.

There are already similar leagues in the United States, but they are betting on remote control and virtual reality, in fact, I am going to bring that complete information in a post in the future, so, if you are interested, start following me.

Going back to the URKL league, China is different, it seems to aim for autonomy and local decision, the robot must react alone, maintain stability and manage energy like a complete mechanical athlete, and the timing is no coincidence. With the TH00 already on pre-sale for about $25,000 and deliveries expected this year, the league also functions as a global showcase of the hardware's robustness.

Deep down, what is happening here is curious and amazing, the ring became a laboratory, the competition became a research method and each fall can represent one more step towards robots capable of surviving and working in real environments, seeing machines fighting and balancing their own body is impressive, but there is something even more symbolic happening behind the scenes of robotics, the moment when no human area or sport is free of this technology.

Sorry for my Ingles, it's not my main language. The images were taken from the sources used or were created with artificial intelligence
