Robots controlled from satellites.

At a commercial space industry event in Beijing, the Humanoid Robotics Innovation Center presented the Chiangan humanoid robot executing tasks while being controlled exclusively by an internet satellite in low orbit, there was no ground connection, no conventional network, all command, teleoperation and video transmission happened directly between the robot and a satellite in the Galaxy Space constellation, orbiting hundreds of kilometers above Earth.

In the demonstration, Chiangan approached a Wright autonomous robot taxi, received a document and retrieved it with stable and precise movements. At the same time, a 720-pixel live video feed, captured from the perspective of the robot itself, was sent in real time to a remote command center.

It may seem simple, but it is not, until today, practically all advanced robberies depended on terrestrial infrastructure to operate safely, industrial Wi-Fi, private networks or 5G, when that connectivity fails, autonomy also fails, what Chinese engineers demonstrated is that that dependency begins to cease to exist.

At 1.63 cm tall and able to move at about 6 km per hour, Chiangan was known for its mobility, but now it gains something much more powerful than speed, global reach, by using satellites in low orbit, the robot can theoretically be operated anywhere on the planet where there is open vision to the sky, deserts, mountainous areas, disaster zones, maritime platforms, infrastructure regions, they are no longer exceptions.

This completely changes the role of robotics because instead of machines confined to factories or controlled environments, we begin to talk about theft capable of reaching where humans cannot or should not go, such as inspecting oil pipelines in remote regions, search and rescue after earthquakes, supporting teams in isolated areas, maintenance in dangerous facilities.

All this without needing to first build a communication network on site and the most impressive thing is that this demonstration is not conceptual, it already works, and when they combine their humanoid robos of advanced operation and satellite communication, a new category of machines emerges, not only autonomous, but truly planetary, we are no longer talking about robos trapped in buildings, we are talking about robos that can work where there is sky and that means that the next logical step is to take them beyond the earth itself, into space.
