The first humanoid tourist guide

And China does not stop, now the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center presented the first national fully autonomous and non-teleoperated humanoid robotic tour guide solution. The system completely eliminates the need for human remote control and runs on the built-in intelligent platform called Huisi Kaiwu.

Able to work making visits to showrooms, shopping centers, commercial environments and tourist and cultural spots. The heart of the solution is a closed-loop system of perception, decision and execution, perception comes from multimodal sensors, vision, movement-environment that allow robots to understand people, obstacles and spaces.

The robot's decision occurs in the so-called “embedded brain”, powered by AI models, which automatically divides each visit into sub-tasks and answers questions from the public using voice and gestures, the execution is in charge of the incorporated “cerebellum”, responsible for adjusting gait, balance and trajectory in real time, even detouring from crowds without stopping the visit.

The robot not only guides visitors, but also controls the environment around it, upon arrival, in a key area of the exhibition it automatically activates lights, screens, videos and demonstrations through integration with IoT devices with a latency of less than 50 milliseconds; In some scenarios it even coordinates other robots by summoning different humanoids to demonstrate industrial tasks together.

This changes the role of the social robot, from being solely an intelligent entertainer to acting as a cognitive center of space, connecting people, machines and infrastructure. It is a clear step towards public environments where humans and robots share complex functions in a continuous and autonomous manner.

If today a robot can already lead a complete tour on its own, how long will it take before these humanoids become a standard presence in museums, companies and entire cities?
