Uff, 41% but I have only been here for 5 weeks now...I don't know what to think about that. Well, I will try to share more haha I love your signature, how did you make it? ^^

@lauralemons drew my character, then i added stickers. You're so new, that I totally understand why you would want to upvote your own. Remember i have been blogging for over a year here, so I am at a different stage....
As far as noobs are concerned, I would place emphasis on these things:
communicating with others (both in comments and on steemit chat)
helping others
entertaining others
learning how and why Steem was even built.

Thank you, I will do my best @stellabelle :)

thats so kind of you that u are not ignoring newbies so lucky to have seniors like u

5 weeks and you have such a big upvote.. man what did you do.. I also have 45%.. but still don't now if it is good or bad...

Still okay, when you are a whale then is more ethical and better for the platform not to vote oneself ;)

How did you get such a Good upvote?

I bought steem when it was really cheap ;)

And the delegation?

Why to buy 20000 Steem when I can get them borrowed? I sold Steem when it raised to 1.8$ and but other coins with more potential to grow in the short term, like NEO, OMG, TenX, District0x, CoinDash, 0x etcetera. One needs to have a really good strategy to get the most of investing in cryptocurrency. Delegation here in steemit is the best choice for me right now. Cheers!

Similar self vote percentage and time of residence on Steemit as @rival here. Maybe if and when I'm at 70+ I can afford to go self vote free but for now, with just 100 followers, it's an important tool for a noob.

I haven't been here very long and have never bought steem but rather have built what has accumulated through only comments. I've not posted much either. Really, I just like meeting people of like minds, reading and gaining knowledge through their experiences. The freedom here is inspiring over other sites I'm not interested in supporting also. My wallets not big by any means but it is, IMO, a bonus and not the main focus. When I began here, I never self upvoted but and wasn't aware it was an option until finding it through browsing around. I must admit that I do upvote my comments more now but the penny I get for doing so really doesn't do much if anything at all for me. I've made a lot of great friends here and truly enjoy the site with the idea that in the future, way down the road, it'll be another way that I've diversified the nest egg for my family :) Great post. Enjoyed as it made me think a bit............,

wow, you're probably in the minority, but we need people like you! Have you brought in your friends?

I talk about it to them all the time and some seem interested but still like their FB. What I have done, and I suggest everyone do this, is dropping hints in the comments of your favorite youtube channels as most of those guys are suffering these days due to lower revenues and censorship. It has paid off in that I've seen a few of my favorites here on steemit theses days. Thank you for the compliment. It means a lot and put a smile on my face! I'll see you around stellabelle. Nice to have met you............ :)

Actually thanks for the idea, now is a great time to promote Steemit to Youtube. Have you guys heard about their new flagging algorithm? It identifies "controversial" content, and auto-bans the entire channel, all without a human touch a button and without any means of appeal.

It's especially insane because if you talk to people who've been watching closely, "controversial" apparently applies to certain types of content, but not to others.

great to hear about your new method in not self voting - i am still fairly new and have tried not voting on mine a couple of times - my vote is only worth 5c . Am trying to create good content and do something to help musicians on steemit , i want to grow with the platform.

That's a good observation, that we maybe running out of readers. Maybe a built in issue, in order to read and upvote you have to go through the difficult process of applying to get into Steemit.

I'm back into buying because I sold a lot when the price was low.

I think back to the story of how @trafalgar became a millionaire on here......He bought Steem when it was like 40 cents, and then went all in.....he put in $100,000 and when the Steem price shot up, his $100,000 turned into $1,000,000. That's when my mind changed.......I realized I need to be putting more in.

lol, I just looked at my chart and I self-vote at 53.7%... is that bad??

Let me take a look at your overall profile. I will say this though....I am most concerned about the huge SP holders who self vote, as I think it sets a bad example.....with smaller minnows upvoting their own posts, i have mixed feelings. If your account is tiny, you're not going to be able to make much and your strategy is not really that good long term. Let me look at your account, hold on.

I heard this upvoting idea before regarding minnows. The advice I got was to upvote yourself until you get a slider. Then upvote only one of your posts each day - or none - depending upon how you feel at the time yo have become so successful.

The reason given for this option was motivation. At least this way none of your posts will sit there with $0.00. I feel good about this plan and will definitely turn my automatic upvoting off on the wonderful day that I get a slider :)

yeah, i can see that motivation would help newbies, although other methods would be more effective. For example if a newbie would host a Steem party and help others get Steemit accounts, or teach them how to use Steemit, they would get way more votes from the steem community.

That's a ton of unknown work for those us trying to figure out how to format posts and etc. I'm in #nicnicy's minnowsfaucet and that might be similar to what you are thinking of. He struggles to get participation.

My choice is to create a steemer twitlist on Twitter and tweet good posts and rt my steemer friend's good posts. I'm "big" on Twitter and my new activity has really boosted that account. The posts come through beautifully. Oddly - the vast majority of the many rts I get on steem posts are from my non-steemer connections over there. But I'm happy for any action. If it is from offsite - maybe we get new blood over here.

I'm about to make some posts to educate my new steem tweeps on how to do better on Twitter to get more interest for steemit. I've got 50+ of them on my list in a short time. That is more than enough to make a difference if we work together. I coach twitter, so I'm re-purposing some of that information for here and hoping for the best result.

This is mind-blowing.

I like your work. As I can see you just joined in July, so you are very new. Your work is original and it even has a hook: moustaches! I would imagine that 2 months of blogging, you're getting frustrated. Have you joined the yunk channel in steemit chat? It's now probably a good time to explore outwards, make friends, and do some vlogs wearing giant moustaches! You need to really get into the moustache theme, as make your mark on this site as 'THE ONLY MOUSTACHE'. I HAVE IDEAS FOR YOU.

Ahh thanks for checking out my stuff! Yes I actually already have a pretty sweet mustache, there is a pic of me on my blog lol.

I have never checked out Steemit chat and yes I am very new. I decided to start a blog to help encourage my friends to get into crypto, and then I found Steemit while doing research. Seemed like a good place to post my blogs and now im HOOKED! hahah

I stopped self-voting a while back as I want to reward others to help them out. I'm also delegating some of my SP to those who can make good use of it. It's not all about earning for yourself. We need to build something much bigger to really do well for ourselves. For now we need to deal with the abuse of the system to make Steemit more attractive.

Yes, Steve, you are absolutely right! I think it's the Fear Vs. Love battle that rages on inside human hearts. I really applaud you being so community oriented! Thank you.

I can't believe steem has went under a dollar. However, I don't know why I'm complaining. I'm just a small minnow and I need to accumulate as much SP as I can before it is too late haha

Regarding curations, I agree as time goes on it is going to be harder to find consumers and curators.

I don't know if that is because after HF 19 people have been reserving their upvote due to voting power or because of the numbers of users joining creating content and ultimately creating this flood of posts.

My self-upvote percentage used to be around 20% (now it is 14%) before but that was because when I first joined the platform I would upvote everything I'd see including my posts even though my upvotes were worth $0.00... nothing. It did more harm than it helped me and after HF 19 hit I don't think I've ever self-upvoted myself on a comment.

As time goes on that number will keep getting smaller and smaller and I hope I can get to around 1% or 2% but I'm glad I'm not like some people I've seen who have 50%+

Also while the price of steem is low I've been converting all my SBD to Steem and I hope so before it gets too expensive @stellabelle! :)

Let's enjoy steemit together(^^)v

Yes, I very happy I found you.

I commented on @jerrybanfield's post about the upvoting of your own posts, nobody responded to my questions though... Can I do any harm to my account If I do that... If I upvote others too much, do I harm myself?
Because I thought the whole point of Steemit was to reward interesting posts from others...
I am pretty new here, and really in the dark for the moment

the entire point of steem is to find and reward others, and build community. Your reputation gets increased when others who have a higher rep upvote you. It's supposed to build upon the concept of esteem. Holding others in high esteem.....that is the concept. Plus, if you find posts that go big, you're rewarded. Now it's not perfect....Since you're new, your account has little weight. You don't have a lot of influence over this site right now.
The process of figuring out your unique contribution to Steemit is tough. Steem is a decentralized autonomous organization, and there are many jobs to be done in here. You must know who you are before you begin to earn rewards. Jerry had a big following before he came in here. They are his fans who upvote him. I also had a fair number of people follow me in here from Facebook, so they follow me in here....but most of the work i did was inside Steemit....I try to figure out how to improve things and work behind the scenes helping people....as much as possible....I'm not perfect though..

Thanks for clearing that out for me! I like this platform and my blog keeps growing while I'm doing something a like very much..

I am a stayer, that's for sure!

By the way, what would be fun at being perfect? Nothing to strive for...

@stellabelle I've been trying to get a grip on the platform for several days now and this is honestly the best summary I've found. I'm adding this idea to my header actually, to remind myself and others.

Hi!

Wouldn't it help newer people if they immediately upvoted their own post? It could get them into the hot category, giving them more of a chance.

Other than that, I think it is definitely best to upvote others!

Great catch on your steem purchase! :)

it's hard to get into hot category currently if your account is low.
Newbies have to try out many different things and see what works.
