Pray for Israel & A few words about Hamas

I felt necessary to write a blog to address the horrific situation in Israel and call you to pray for Israel.

Sadly, the word horrific just doesn’t do it justice, or even comes close to describing the appalling catastrophe that is taking place there. The monstrous acts of pure evil demand that the world pay attention to the merciless and implacable enemy that is Hamas and their den of snakes.

It is very easy to dismiss the situation in Israel as a several thousand-year-old conflict between regional enemies. Everyone thinks it’s the radicals that are the problem, but the “normal people” really want peace. This is usually followed by, “Yes, it’s true the Palestinians have religious radicals, but Israel also has religious radicals.” Nothing could be farther from the truth.

There is simply no comparison, in fact it’s insulting to the intelligence to even utter the two sides in a single sentence or the same breath. This half-century long conflict between the Arabs and Israelis has nothing to do with two sovereign powers trying to find some place in the middle to be able to compromise and co-exist.

Hamas is a religious terrorist organization, as is Fatah, the scion of the abominable PLO. In my view, they are the ideological descendants of Amalek, the archenemy of the Jewish people from day one. The Amalekites ambushed and attacked the Jewish people in the most disgusting manner possible; attacking from the rear those that were weak and vulnerable (Deut 25:17-19).

The “normal Arabs” under Hamas rule suffer mightily. Hamas are wholly corrupt and have no interest in “their people”. Their simple and unwavering mandate is to bring about the destruction of the Jewish people and the Jewish State. They spend very little time on actual governance, rather they spend all of their time and efforts on devising ways to inflict pain on Israel.

The parts of the world where humanity still prevails reacted with horror at their subhuman tactics: Attack the vulnerable – civilian families, children, and the elderly. What possible justification are there for kidnapping families and the elderly and young women simply for the purpose of murdering raping and torturing them and then holding them as human shields to protect them for the inevitable Israeli assault?

Hamas and their acolytes (Islamic Jihad, the Republic of Iran, Qatar etc – unfortunately this is a very long list) don’t care about the politics of the region, they are simply hell-bent on destroying the Jewish people. The world should never forget what kinds of ’people’ these people are; this isn’t an ideological fight at any level, this is simply how much damage can we cause to inflict pain and suffering upon our enemies.

That being said, I want to encourage you to pray for:

Those taken captive by Hamas
For the end of the war
For the people in Gaza and Israel to be exposed to the Gospel
Wisdom for the Israeli government

The Lord bless you!
