Pulse market : Community owned prediction market on the NEAR blockchain
I'm Peter Mitchell and I'm the co founder of flux protocol.
So I'm super excited to talk to you today about flux oracle. We're a super early team within the NEAR ecosystem so we started building when the test net first launched, and we're super excited to start to see things going on to mainnet, so the first app that just launched onto the flux Oracle is an app called Pulse and the first prediction market app to launch on near, and also their fair launch, so there's no VCs or any kind of external backing it's totally for the community by the community.
So what is flux, what have we been building what we've been up to.
So, flux is an Oracle. So we basically bring off chain data on chain. So we tap into real world things like arbitrary data API based data, and even price feeds to run things like synthetic assets decentralised insurance eSports markets political markets, you name it and our Oracle could probably support it.
So this is a flux Oracle and this is sort of a plumbing you could think we're an infrastructure that runs a lot of these cool use cases. On top of that our team has also built prediction market protocols,AMMs, limit order books and open source tools to allow developers to easily connect and build fun use cases like a synthetic stock or, you know, an Esports app using our open source app, and our open source library which includes an SDK, which allows any developer to connect to flux with just 3 lines of code.
So if you have an existing app that you want to connect and build a vertical, you just need to input three lines of code and you can connect to all the features of the flux protocol on Oracle.
So let's dive into pulse.
So I'll pull up onto my screen here the Pulse app. So I can click log in here and this will bring me to my near wallet, and this allows me to basically say hey pulse can interact with my near Wallet. So now I'm redirected back to the homepage, and I can see an overview of all the markets so I'll click this near market here. So here we have a chart of all the trading history we can see what the market thinks up here and the total volume down here we have the swap window, and now you can input an input let's say 1Near to make a trade it shows me how many yes tokens I'm going to get it shows me my max payouts and the rate per token. So now I can confirm the swap. Down below here at the bottom. And after I confirm the swap it's going to bring me back to the near wallet where I'm going to confirm the transaction. So in a couple seconds basically the transaction is confirmed and I'm redirected back to the Pulse app. And now you can see that basically the volume has been updated on the top right. And so now this is basically full demonstration of making a trade LogMeIn and interacting with the Pulse app so it's pretty simple, start to finish.
So as you can see from the Pulse app is a super slick UX and UI on near transactions are super cheap, so we paid less than $0.01 for that transaction that I made in that market. And in general, we're able to basically do this in a totally non custodial way. So, those funds never pass through a front end that has custody. It never touches any type of Escrow that anyone in the community can control is a totally permissionless and decentralised experience from the user's wallet directly to the blockchain, and then it's resolved by the Oracle, with paid out in a totally permissionless manner as well. And so this is the first application of its kind that can really power and be able to be used by the mainstream user without it being super difficult so if you look back to the Ethereum ecosystem to, you know projects like Augur that have tried to launch this in the past. In the first version, it took 7 days to resolve a market, we can do that for API data for less than 30 minutes, and for arbitrary data we can resolve that in 24 hours. And so we're much faster in terms of resolution in a decentralised way than existing options, and for auger that same transaction that costs me less than a cent to make on Near actually would have cost me 30,000 times as much on a Ethereum, at minimum, so this is a really big breakthrough for the prediction market space because now, any user from the mainstream that wants to trade 10 15 20 $100 is no longer priced out and can get more bang for their buck, and be able to trade in these markets so it opens these markets and makes them more accessible for the mainstream user, so I'm super excited that pulses Now fair launch is now live, and maybe there's going to be some liquidity incentives and airdrops in the future, the DAO decide. I hope that I'll be part of that conversation and I'll be pushing that forward for the community, but this is basically the first product that's launched, and we're excited to push this forwardmore projects will be launching on the flux Oracle into the future. We have a lot of projects that are building really cool things in the synthetic space in the stable coin space and more so to stay tuned, reach out, I'm on telegram.
