Why do we hate?! (Ex-Yugoslavia example) / Zašto mrzimo?! (primer SFRJ)
How can it be good that I kill someone or that someone kills me? How can that be good? Oh, you backward, zealot cavemen!
The worst part about nationalism is that it’s an evil mostly applied to young people, i.e. kids. While we were kids, we have been thought that 3*4=12, and we didn’t quite understand that, we learned it by heart. It is only much later that we have begun to realize what is *, what is =, what are (), etc. The same thing happens with nationalism and religious hate. “Don’t go with them my son, they are different people”. “Don’t trust them, once you turn your back, they will backstab you”. This indoctrination leads to the kids believing that once you pass a border with Serbia/Bosnia/Croatia, everything becomes black. The trees, the sky, the people, everything becomes black.
Serbs usually call soup “supa”, Croatians “juha”, while Bosnians use both versions of the word. But is it really important how will we call a soup? Who cares what word will be used if we all understand both versions? The point is that someone wants to eat/make a soup, the word itself is not the point!
We have been indoctrinated all of our lives by our political elites that we are different worlds. But the political elites are not stupid at all, don’t be misled. They are bad and immoral, yes, but they are not stupid. They are poisoning us with nationalistic and religious hate in order to be able to control us and keep our minds busy while they steal from (all of) us. People in the Balkans are not hungry for war, people in the Balkans are hungry… hungry.
You should teach your children mathematics, chemistry, biology, something useful, so that they can become useful members of the society, so that they can create something good. Please, teach them to be nice, good, smart, open-minded, relaxed. Don’t jabber too much and teach them that a Serb/Bosnian/Croat is no good because “he is not like us”. Is it possible that you haven’t noticed so far that we are all in the same… sh… soup? Don’t create a social problem that even you don’t wish to have!
We shouldn’t care about nationalities, religions, and similar stuff when estimating people. What we should care is how much is someone ready to help unconditionally, how much is someone pleasant to be with, how much does someone know about smart things, how much can someone make you laugh and feel good.
Luckily, the world is becoming closer and closer. I have met many members of all three nationalities on local Argentinian tango events over the last two years, and I can tell you that I have met only wonderful people, with none of them careing “who is who”. I believe that platforms like Steemit can also help bring us together. Živeli!

The hate is caused by tribalism. Tribalism is a human trait, which we evolved to have as a means of survival. It can be seen in sports & politics as well.

I lead community improv classes here in Austin and what I love about improv is that it connects people from all different types of backgrounds. You don't even have to know the other people because once you start playing these simple games, you start laughing, and once you start laughing, you start relating.
If the entire world started doing improv, I bet the world would feel like a more connected place. That's just one of the many art forms that do this though! We have many options :)

100 years of peace agreement.demilitarization and neutrality.
thats what everyone here would accept, especially people who were through the last war. many would vote for and help bring to power such idea.
problem is, if we start promoting something like that, and people accept it, i think we wouldnt survive long.
without warmongering, todays system would fall apart. and im not talking only about bosnia or balkan. In USA its even worse than here, for example. they are Reich level already, sort of.
so if you go like that and endanger their wealth, business, power and interests, they will fight you with all weapons.
Without warmongering, our everyday problems would become too obvious. And not just the everyday problems, but also the double standards, as you pointed out here. Cheers!

I agree, it will probably happen when the post-war generations begin to realize that they hate each other for something that happened between some members of our nationalities before they were even born.
