SLC-S29/W1-Mind & Learn : The Psychology Journey "Control Your Emotions"
Hello, friends, I hope you are all doing well. This time, I am going to participate in a course called “Mind & Learn: The Psychology Journey,” taught by our professor @memamun. In this first week, the topic is “Control Your Emotions,” something very important that we must learn in order to better manage or deal with all the situations in our lives. Here are the answers to the questions:
Task 01. Journaling, write your emotions and negative thoughts in a diary, express your thoughts.
Title
A misunderstanding that taught me to defend myself
Story
One day I arrived at the university and said good morning to the doorman and those who were with him, as usual. When I was almost halfway down the hallway, I heard someone shout, “Aren't you going to say good morning? You're rude!” I stopped because the man (who was about 60 years old) shouted so loudly. At first, I didn't think he was talking to me until he pointed at me and started yelling all kinds of insults.
I was paralyzed by shock. The commotion was so loud that people on the street began to gather. I came to my senses when the man told me to come back and apologize to him. When I heard him, I got very angry, but I refrained from yelling at him and just told him that I had said good morning to them, and if he hadn't heard me, that was his problem, not mine. After that, I left. I felt humiliated, powerless, and angry, so much so that my hands were shaking; however, I managed to handle it well.
Thoughts
That taught me that I can respond well to unfair situations. If I had let my anger get the better of me, the situation would have ended badly, but I was able to contain my emotions and respond calmly.
Lesson
Don't let your emotions control you; it's best to calm down before responding. It's important not to take anything personally.
Task 02. Mind setup, take a favorite book, continue reading on a topic and write in detail about that topic after finishing the reading. Let us know what book you are reading and take a picture.
From my small bookshelf, I chose the book: “Laminario Anatomía Humana” (Human Anatomy Laminario), which, as you can tell from the title, is about the structure of the human body. I chose it because it was a book I used a lot when I was studying criminalistics and because it's one I can consult when I forget the name of a part of the body.
The book shows the parts of the different systems (skeletal, muscular, nervous, lymphatic, etc.), the circulatory system, the composition of blood, the digestive system, among others. What I read most was the first topic, which is the skeletal system, because I was interested in forensic physical anthropology. It shows the skeleton, the composition of bones, the skull, the spine, hands, and feet. I learned a lot from that book; I used it a lot, which is why it's a little worn out.
Task 03. Read the story mentioned above and express your own opinion.
In this sad story where ordinary people suffered greatly, Harun Chowdhury made the mistake of letting greed get the better of him and used the suffering of others to obtain more wealth. He should simply have upheld the agreement that was already in place. As for the rest of the powerful, they should not have turned their backs on the population while focusing on gaining more power. Instead, they should have put their egos and rivalries aside to face the crisis.
I believe that the decision regarding the doctors could have taken a better path; they could have reached an agreement with Harun to treat his son in exchange for following the agreement and providing compensation for damages. Although I understand their decision, revenge is not a good path to take; it is better to follow principles and values. This shows how letting anger take over can break values and prevent rational and ethical decision-making.
Task 04. Create an infographic on the five steps of emotion control.
These are the steps I usually follow to control my emotions. I learned them several years ago in a mindfulness course. There are several breathing techniques, but I chose one that works quite well for everyone. I made it in Canva:

Hi friend, sometimes letting anger get the better of us doesn't do us any good, and by the time we react, it's too late. I enjoyed reading your post and visiting your site.
I wish you a good night. 🙏
Hi, friend! Yes, it's better to think with a cool head. Thank you very much!
