Psalm 23

Good morning steemians!

Let me begin our #quiettime for today with series of questions:

What are your fears in life?

Death?

Dark places?

Fatal diseases?

All people have their own sets of fears in life. Even King David who is a man after God’s own heart and a mighty warrior of God has his own fears.

Before he became king, he have to face Goliath in order to defend the people of God. He was a shepherd, humble, young teenager at that time. Goliath was already a mighty warrior who stands 6 feet and 9 inches tall. But how did David faced Goliath? How did he defeat Goliath? To answer this question, let us read our scripture for today in Psalm 23.

David was afraid in facing Goliath but it didn’t stop him in defending the people of God. His strength is from the Lord that’s why we became victorious in all his challenges after defeating Goliath. What I learned about this scripture is to:

Trust in God that he deliver you from all fears
Faith in God drives out all your fears

What or who is the Goliath of your life?

Last November 1, 2017, me and my brothers-in-faith went to experience the “horror chamber” next town of our place – Bacong, Negros Oriental. Before arriving to the place, I was afraid already because I have a wide imagination when it comes to dark places, scary faces, ghosts and the like. So I prayed and ask for courage from and denied myself so that I can encourage my brothers in their happiness. Also, I took it a challenge to face my fear and trust God that everything would be alright.

When we are at the place, my fears didn’t fade away. Instead it grew all the more. Moreover, when went inside the “horror chamber.” I still prayed and prayed and hold on my brothers until we finish the course. What a relief!

Now, with this scripture, I’m refreshed to hold on to my faith in God that whatever challenges, obstacles, worries, fears and the like would come my way, I would not be afraid. Continue to face them and the amazing part is God is with me all the time so everything would be alright. The next time we will go the “horror chamber” I’m equipped with God’s Word.

Today as we worship God, let us face our fears by trusting and putting all our faith in God that He will help us always to become victorious in our everyday battle. Let us imitate the heart of King David in facing our Golaith’s in life.

Truly God, who is our shepherd, can:

Comfort our stresses
Calm our storms
Refresh our souls

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, good morning. We acknowledge you as our Shepherd not just today but with the rest of our lives. Thank you for the new life, thank you for the privilege to worship together with our families and friends. Help us to remember that even though we walk to the valley of death, we should not fear because you are near. Guide and protect us today. May you be glorified in everything we do. May your name be glorified now and forever. These things we pray in Jesus name. Amen.
