This evening, I took the time to accompany my wife shopping at the traditional market near Simpang Rangkaya. Traditional markets in this area are often used by locals to source various daily necessities, especially food items like vegetables, fish, and spices.

Even though it was already late afternoon, the market was still quite busy. Many vendors were still open, displaying a variety of goods neatly arranged on tables and in baskets. The lights lit up every corner of the market, creating a warm and bustling atmosphere.

We walked slowly, browsing the various fresh vegetables sold by the vendors. There was a wide selection of vegetables available, including spinach, kale, long beans, chilies, tomatoes, and various other kitchen ingredients. The vegetables looked quite fresh, as most of them had just been brought in by the vendors from their gardens or from the main market. My wife then began selecting some vegetables to use for cooking at home. I simply accompanied her, occasionally helping with the shopping bags. Although it seemed simple, moments like this always felt enjoyable for me, as I could spend time with my wife amidst the busyness of my daily life.

Besides buying vegetables, we also had the chance to chat with one of the vendors who was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere in traditional markets always feels friendly, as vendors and buyers often joke around or chat casually during transactions. I found this nearby traditional market to have a different atmosphere than other shopping areas. Here, we could experience local life firsthand, observe various buying and selling activities, and interact with many people.

After purchasing all the vegetables we needed, we prepared to head home. It was getting late, and some vendors were starting to tidy up their wares. We then walked back to our vehicles, carrying our shopping bags filled with fresh vegetables.

This short trip to the traditional market tonight was a simple yet meaningful moment. Besides getting healthy ingredients to cook at home, I also got to enjoy some quality time with my wife.

For me, family happiness often comes from small things like this. Accompanying my partner shopping, walking together in the market, and helping each other with daily activities are all parts of life worth being grateful for.
