Diary of Lionel-Richie — The Things We Do Without Thinking
Have you ever noticed how many things you do every day without actually thinking about them?
You wake up, pick up your phone, check something, eat when you're hungry, talk to people, walk around, exercise, make decisions and somehow get through the entire day
Most of these things feel too ordinary to remember.
But sometimes, when I actually pay attention, I realize that there are small decisions hidden inside almost everything I do.
For example, I couldn't go for my usual run today.
Normally, that could easily become an excuse to do nothing. But instead, I stayed home and did some workout sessions, including plenty of push-ups.
It wasn't exactly the plan, but it was still movement.
And I think we sometimes put too much pressure on ourselves to do things in the exact way we imagined them. If the original plan doesn't work, we feel like the whole thing has failed. But maybe the goal is more important than the method.
Later, I went to visit my mum at her hair salon. It wasn't some special outing. I just wanted to see her and spend some time around her.
Then hunger entered the conversation.
I made spaghetti because apparently my body had decided that exercise without food was not going to happen.
After that, I spent some time helping a friend with her UI/UX design. She showed me what she was working on, and I gave her some ideas and suggestions.
This part actually got me thinking.
Sometimes we don't realize how useful our perspective can be to someone else. You might look at something for five minutes and notice what another person has been staring at for an hour. Not because you're necessarily more skilled, but because you're looking at it from a different angle.
And maybe that's why conversations are important.
We spend so much time trying to figure everything out by ourselves that we forget how much a simple conversation can change our perspective.
Today wasn't particularly eventful. But while thinking about the little things I did, I realized something:
A meaningful day doesn't always come from doing something extraordinary. Sometimes, it's simply about paying attention to ordinary things.
Maybe tomorrow will bring something bigger. Maybe it won't. Either way, I'll still be paying attention.
