The diary Game: [04/06/2026] home sick.

in RECREATIVE STEEM8 days ago (edited)

Hello guys, Good day. How are you all doing?

It’s another beautiful day to tell you how my day went. I’m always happy to share.

So, my day started with brief prayers and brushing my teeth with warm water. I was feeling a little pain in my teeth, so I used warm water to see if it would get better.

After brushing, I went to the main apartment to check who was awake. My mom is always up early preparing for work, and my sister was also up cooking food for the day before school.

She was making yam and beans.
Yeah, some people say they don’t like that combination, but I love it because I’m a fan of both yam and beans. Mixing them isn’t a problem for me. Plus, it’s rich in protein and good for daily activities, especially if you’re going to have a long day.

Yam and beans.

You’ll need it for sustainability all day long. All you need is water for hydration. It’s a heavy meal, which means you won’t get hungry quickly sometimes not until evening. But that’s definitely not me, because I’ll eat again 😂 before dinner.

A little while later, she was done and they headed out to work. It was just me in the whole empty house.

I quickly had my breakfast and went to my room.
At our house, there aren’t many chores to do because we clean up after using anything. Like, we eat and wash up immediately, so we rarely have dirty dishes piling up. Just a little sweeping and everywhere is clean.

Since I had nothing to do, I went to my room and rested a little. I had been feeling sick earlier, so I went to collect my lab test results from yesterday.

It came back positive for malaria. I quickly took the result to a pharmacy where I was given drugs, and I also received an injection through IV.

My hand 🥺.

It wasn’t painful. I actually prefer injections to tablets they’re easier, faster, and I don’t like the bitter taste of drugs. I know that’s weird, though. Most people prefer tablets, some don’t like injections at all. Some even cry during IVs, even adults.

But I find that weird because it’s my favorite method of medication. Before the injection, the doctor asked if I had eaten. I said yes. He said if I hadn’t, the injection would affect me badly, which wouldn’t be good. I assured him I had eaten, so no problem.

I had the injection and was given some drugs to take home. When I got home, I was hungry again I think that’s part of the drug’s side effects.

I had to drink garri, also called cassava flakes.
It’s blended, dried, and fried flour. Some varieties are yellow if red palm oil was used during production, while others are white without oil.

Garri.

It’s widely consumed by Africans. Most students in boarding schools and universities consume it a lot because it’s cheap to make. With sugar if that’s all you have, but if you can afford milk and fried groundnuts, it’s even nicer.

Personally, I love mine with milk, sugar, groundnuts, and cold water.
Sometimes I use fried fish lol 😂
So tell me, how do you like your garri?
To be honest, some people say it’s a “low-life food” lol. I used to believe that nonsense until the day I saw Nigeria’s former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, drinking garri on national television lol 😂. It was beautiful seeing him do that. Since then, I don’t care what they say about garri.

I take mine with confidence.
It’s food for the economical and the rich consume it too, so what’s the debate about whether it’s low or not? As long as I’m full, I’m good.

So after having my garri, I was okay.
I stayed on my bed since I was sick. Then I remembered I have a guitar. I quickly looked for it and used it to entertain myself.

My guitar.

I’m not really good at it, but I enjoy playing. It was a beautiful afternoon with me and my guitar, singing love songs and reflecting on love and memories lol 😂. It was amazing. After that, I dozed off 😂 I slept for hours.

Later, my family came back, and as usual, dinner was prepared.
We sat to eat while my mom told me about the news she saw on social media about our president focusing on election reruns instead of tackling current security issues in the country.

Dinner.

It’s really bad that this is happening and nobody is saying anything about it. It’s just the poor masses against these bandits. These people now kidnap others, collect ransom, and flaunt it on social media as if it’s a legal business. They even go live on TikTok with their weapons, showing the world what they have, and security can’t track these individuals and bring them to book.

But once you insult the government, you’ll be arrested immediately. Yet bandits walk freely.
Traveling by road now is scary because you fear being kidnapped. The country is messed up and nothing is being done about it.

My mom was just bitter about it. But then, what can our little voice and strength do? It all depends on the government. We’re just hopeful that God will continue to protect us.
So my dinner was done, and I took my night medication.
I’ll be heading to bed now to get enough rest and allow the medicine to work properly.

Good night, people.
Remember, any day above ground level is a good day.

Don’t forget to drink enough water and get enough rest.
