The diary post; Weekend Wahala, Garri to the Rescue & Football Banter - 04/04/2026

Hello people,

It’s me @praizclassic01, and welcome to my diary

Weekend in a Nigerian home is never calm… and today just proved it again. It was one of those days that somehow managed to be interesting and stressful at the same time.

I woke up this morning and there was no time to ease into the day at all. No “good morning stretch”, no thinking about breakfast… movement was already set.

First thing I did was take our window and door blinds to the dry cleaners. Straight from there, I joined them to the market.

Now, the main reason I went was because I had something to grind.

I had earlier bought ingredients for pap—proper ones oh, not play
Guinea corn, millet, soya beans, dates, ginger… everything complete.

So today was the day to process it.

After grinding, the result looked really good and smooth.

While all that was going on, we also entered a fabric shop so my sister could get materials for sewing.

Now this is where the real test of patience started

After I finished what I went to do, I was waiting for her and her friend… and these people were moving like they wanted to buy the whole market.

Time was going, I was getting tired, and slowly getting annoyed too

I even started calling their phones like, “Una dey come or make I go house?”

Finally, they showed up and we left the market.

We boarded a keke and headed home.

At this point, I was already happy…
“Yes, I’m finally going home to rest and eat.”

But life said—not so fast

Before leaving the house earlier, they were about making fried yam and egg. I clearly told them to keep my own.

So imagine my shock when I got home and heard:
“We didn’t keep it, we didn’t want it to get cold.”

Ah.

That kind of disappointment eh… it hits differently when you’ve been outside since morning

I wasn’t happy at all, but what can I do?

That’s when I went for the real lifesaver—garri.

Cold water from the fridge, milk, sugar… everything complete.

That garri did not disappoint.

After a while, I was still feeling a bit hungry again, so I went for plan B — Mango

This mango was supposed to be shared oh… but at that moment, I was not in a sharing mood

I just sat down quietly with small knife and handled it till it finished.

Thankfully, nobody asked questions later… so no case.

Now let’s talk about the exciting part of today—football

This weekend came with serious drama from the FA Cup quarter finals and beyond.

• Manchester City vs Liverpool — 4-0
  Liverpool were completely humbled, no other way to put it

• Southampton vs Arsenal — 2-1
  This one shocked me, I won’t lie. Arsenal fans didn’t see that coming at all

---

• Chelsea vs Port Vale — 7-0
  Chelsea just decided to pour out all their frustrations on innocent people

---

---

And over in Spain…

• Mallorca vs Real Madrid — 2-1
  Another big surprise of the day!

I won’t lie, I enjoyed today’s football

As a rival fan, seeing Arsenal and Liverpool lose like that?
Entertainment at its peak

I even spent part of my evening trolling their fans small

Arsenal own is even more funny because they were dreaming of a quadruple… now two don go already

At this point, I don’t even know what they’re holding on to again

All in all, today was a full day.

From market stress, to food disappointment, to garri salvation, to football enjoyment…

Complete package!
