Love growing in the village yard
The morning was simple, calm and full of charm, just like our village. The soft sun was shining in the yard. My daughter and my sister-in-law's daughter were standing side by side. Although my younger daughter was young, there was a glimmer of mischief and curiosity in her eyes. The older daughter was a little calmer and she loved to walk around understandingly. Although their personalities were different, their relationship was very beautiful, they embraced each other and kept each other close.
They were talking about going on a trip today. My younger daughter was running around happily and the older one was taking care of her as if she were the younger one's guardian. Standing near the papaya tree in our yard next to the house, the younger one was hugging the tree and smiling. That smile had all the simplicity of childhood. The older daughter was standing quietly in a blue dress with a kind of charm and responsibility in her eyes.
At this age, she seemed to understand that taking care of the younger ones was the first lesson of growing up. In the midst of all this, my father-in-law picked up onions from the garden. Onions from our own garden. The result of fresh hard work sticking to the ground. The onion bunch was kept in the yard. I took the onions in my hands very carefully. I cut off the dry parts that fell from the ground and kept them aside. While doing the work, it seemed that the real beauty of the world is hidden in these simple tasks.
While cleaning the onions, my eyes kept going to the two girls. They were still engrossed in their own stories. Where are they going? How will you see how the younger one sometimes runs to hug me and runs away again. The older one looks at me and smiles from afar. These scenes are very simple but very precious. Even if there are no big events in our lives, these small moments are all.
Our days are spent with the fruits of our own garden, the laughter of the family, the children. Just as the onion grows slowly underground, these children will also grow with time and experience. One day, maybe they will grow up and become busy in their own lives, then this yard, this papaya tree, these days of picking and cleaning onions will be just memories. But today, at this moment, everything is alive. My daughter and my sister-in-law's daughter are standing together. In a small but beautiful chapter of life, these pictures are not just pictures, these are the stories of our family. Silent witness to some of the extraordinary moments of our love and ordinary life.
