Husband's Corn HarveststeemCreated with Sketch.

Hello, everyone! I hope you are well and happy as the holidays are approaching fast. Others may have received their 13th month pay already but I and my colleagues are waiting for ours; I think it's better though and I I really hope I can escape from debt before the year ends and will have a reset on my finances next year.

Anyway, let me share with you about my husband's corn harvest back in the days; we are still investing in corn planting these days and I honestly praying for the rain to come since it has been weeks when tropical depressions brought in rains to water our crops.

It was Sunday and I was off from my work so I decided to help my husband in the farm because laborers are so hard to find these days and they do little work especially those ones that have cellphones that keeps them distracted.

When we got married, we asked both sides of our parents for a parcel of land to cultivate. Both of our parents were farmers but they could not give us a piece of land because they said they still had to pay for their debt and also because they do not trust us about farming.

Last year, my father-in-law got discouraged by his crops and so he decided t leave home and go back to his birthplace. He left his family but he had corns standing for them to have income in the near future.

Finally, we became farmers!

It was only my husband that is able to work on the farm, Most of his sisters are not around but Ate Inday was not interested so he asked my husband to till the land while he was away. There was even one night, I came to their house to get our son and my father-in-law asked me to guide my husband on faring because "he did not know anything about it" That's his line.

Harvest time

Months passed and we have our first harvest. My husband was successful in making his father believe that he knows how to manage the farm.

My father-in-law did not last long in his birthplace and got back home last February, shortly after we planted corn on the farm.

The weather in the past few days has been very hot and just a night being on the soil, the roots had developed because they had sensed moisture. Luckily this won't affect the quality of the grains that we will be selling soon.

While I was working, my husband harvested the corn with the help of his father and a neighbor. And because it was a Sunday, I helped my husband on the farm, but I was signed to sacking the corn.

I was not used to this work anymore(di sa nag inarte ako ha) but I was aging fast and birthing did the most of it. I was weaker now.

There were lots of ants on the soil trying to make the corn as their food since it was left there overnight. Picking the corn on the soil is painful. But the it's back that hurts the most. I had do bend down to pick the corn and put them in the sacks because sitting down will make me slow to move.

The weather is hot too, there are a lot of clouds above but it was hot. The grass and the corn in the field block the air to reach the center.

And yeah, this happens a lot. I was done sacking and just turned around to get another sack and this one fell. I had to pick them up once again and boy! It was very heavy!

Despite the situation that I am in, I did not fail to see the beauty in nature. Dark clouds look lovely to see and flowers are present around too!
A little break did not hurt when I took pictures of them.

And this is me. I am wrapped in clothes since it was the only way I can protect myself from the sun. It was very bright around too, and I had to wear my photochromic glasses. I was very glad I did because I did not get any headaches after.

White corn for our consumption

We do eat corn in replacement for rice. the corn will be milled and cooked in boiling hot water. It was rather tricky since only the most experienced ones know how to cook this perfectly.

Here is a snap that I took with my husband and my father-in-law while carrying the corn on the farm. they had a great teamwork!

We did not get much but we had enough and we are very happy about it. We were not able to clear all our bills with the sales but we are still gonna try again. All the hard work was worth it.
A wonderful way for God to bless our family.

Our farming activity ended a few moments after the video was taken because it rained too soon that day. We all went home after the rain.

If you reached t his far, thank you so much for your time and support. Your upvote will so much appreciated as well! Keep safe and stay happy!

This will be all for now, I'll see you around.
