Unbelievable Amounts of Plastic In Our Oceans!

How did we let this get so bad? How could we? Did you know there is a gianourmus, and I mean gianourmus, mass accumulation of plastic floating in our oceans?

I was reading this article , The Great Pacific Garbage Patch it explained how there are five huge mounts of plastic floating in our oceans. The biggest one is said to be floating in between California and Hawaii. There is about 2 million tons of plastic flowing into our oceans each year. All the plastic travels on the rivers currents and into the oceans. Since the bottles are so light they float on top of the water. The water's force creates this vortex, a water vortex, where the plastic will stay until it breaks down into smaller plastic pieces. This gigantic patch of plastic is said to be twice the size of Texas, about 600,000 square miles big. Yeah, you cant even imagine how big that is can you?

Let me try to explain, imagine its like 150,000 United States in a row creating a rectangular shape. Now imagine you are standing in the middle of that? Oh fuck, right? Thats a lot of plastic making its way into our echo system , and im only talking about one montrous patch. Whats the big deal you may ask? Well since plastic is a non-biodigradable it is extremely harmfull to our environment. Read this definition, "a substance or chemical that is non-biodegradable cannot be changed to a harmless natural state by the action of bacteria, and may therefore damage the environment"
That plastic is then consumed by the ocean critters that explore these areas that are then consumed by the fish we lovely humans consume, digest and absorb. Yum who wants fish & plastic bits.

The time is now people! We cant just keep polluting this beautiful planet of ours, We must take action! Out of the billions of planets out in this galaxy we are lucky enough to get to call Earth our home. Everything we've ever known is here. How do we continue to be unaffected by the changes that are happening. No global warning isnt a lie. Have you taken a look at our melting ice caps, our oceans heating up, our coral reefs are dying , the toxic air we breathe? I can go on forever. We have a serious issues here that we must fix or else we will be our worse enemy ; we will wipe out the human race with pollution, oh the irony.
