Unfortunately for all the claims of being good people, the religious can be just as petty and unkind as everyone else; their religion just gives them a sense of exclusivity and superiority.
Im an apatheist, I have decided that it dosent matter if gods exist or not, but I believe religion is not the path to a world of peace and harmony.
