An Open Letter to "Christians" (and by 'letter' I really mean 'lambasting')

Dear "Christians",

Your mental gymnastics disgust me. Your logical contortionism astounds me. The lengths of irrationality and absurdity you have gone to in order to try to make it look like "the Christian thing to do" to support one candidate or another are utterly appalling. Perverting something sacred--like, say, the temple or, oh, I dunno, Jesus's teachings??--for corrupt purposes--like, say, swindling people or, oh, I dunno, forcing your will on other people??--is something Jesus literally took a whip to...

Now, some of you have not yet come to realize that the state exists exclusively by and through violence. Some of you have not yet put 1 and 1 together and seen the big fat 2 laughing in your face. If that's you, then let this be your wake up call. Because there is no law which the state will not kill to enforce. Every act by an agent of government is made possible by theft and every edict is a threat of violence.

But for those of you who do know... for those who have been warned and admonished... those who have heard it said and chose to reject it... Those who have come to this realization on their own and have decided to pretend it doesn't matter...

I have a special message just for you:

May your every political nightmare come true.

May every effort you focus on this institution of pure, barbaric subjugation fail, and miserably so.

May your every attempt to use the abject violence of the state backfire on you.

How dare you attach the name of the man who taught peace, love, charity, compassion, forgiveness, and free will onto your selfish, violent desires to subjugate your neighbors? How dare you call yourself a follower of those teachings while openly, unabashedly clamoring for the violence of the state to be used for your purposes?

It is one thing to not see the error of your ways, but it is another thing entirely to see them and yet pretend they are virtuous and good. To err is human... But to be so in love with state violence that you refuse to give it up and set about intentionally perverting Scripture and pretending that "God" wants you to choose this master or that for your fellow man? You hypocrite, you idolator, you deceiver... How can you call yourself "Christian" and actually believe your own lie?

No wonder people hate you. No wonder they think you hate them. And it doesn't have anything at all to do with God or the Bible. You can say you're a loving Christian til you're blue in the face, but that won't make it true. You can boycott Starbucks for not putting the word Christmas on their cups, but when you won't boycott your precious friend, the US Government, when it is actively involved in the wholesale slaughter of human beings?? Your actions betray you, your choices expose you. They clearly reveal you for the snake in the grass you are.

This election season is not a time for choosing right or left. It's a time for choosing whether you're actually a follower of the Christ you claim to serve or not.

Choose wisely. Because which head of the beast known as The State wins doesn't matter, but whether you align yourself with that beast or not absolutely does.
