The highest Marian monument in the world in honor of the Divine Shepherdess.
The city of Barquisimeto, is a city of the state Lara which is located in the center-west of Venezuela. In this beautiful city of Venezuela is the Monument Mantle of Maria Divina Pastora, being the highest Marian monument in the world, With 62 meters of height, surpassing the Monument to the Virgin of Peace (46,72 meters), this monument is a A monumental structure dedicated to the Virgin Mary, its construction began in July 2014 and was inaugurated on January 13, 2016.
It was constructed to the east of Barquisimeto in the hill of the sector Veragacha or The Glass in the Hill of the Wind.
It is a large scale sculpture, where the image of the Virgin Mary is represented in a work in kinetic art, located inside a large portico that consists of two towers of reinforced concrete, each one of 62 meters of height that frames and on A large mirror of water.
The sculpture of the Virgin has a height of 47.14 meters and a width of 23.3 meters, made up of 3,722.00 pieces of aluminum tubes, each 25 cm in diameter, suspended from the metal beam by racks and aligned With steel guayas tensioned by concrete counterweights and the image consists of 522 tubular lines that form the kinetic art. The illumination is carried out through 10 Metal Halide luminaires installed and distributed at the base and at the top of the sculpture, all of which reflects the image of the virgin Divina Pastora
The work can be seen from 70 kilometers away. Visitors can observe from the Mirador level the city of Barquisimeto and adjacent towns like Cabudare and Yaritagua. It has a main access through the North Tower, through an iron door of 9,30 meters of height and 3 meters of width with a weight of 3 Tonnes, in said door is written in relief and writing in Braille the Our Father .
The Divine Shepherdess is the spiritual patroness of the Larenses and her procession takes place every January 14 where the most important religious event of that entity is held and a huge expression of devotion on the part of the Venezuelan people.
