Makina Sea Log : May 25, 2026
This has had to be one of the longest winters, ever witnessed by me, in Nova Scotia. There have been winters which have been colder and those with more snow; yet never so long as this one. Since the summer of 2024 my residence has been on my 36 foot sailboat, the Makina.

Makina came out of the water last September for upgrades and some needed repairs. During her winter on the hard my time was spent as a house guest of my Daughter and Son-In-Common-Law in Halifax, Nova Scotia. On May 22, after some delays and fanfare, Makina was launched and the new boating season officially started.

She is currently at dock at the East River Shipyard awaiting mast and radar installation. In the meantime, with the help of my friend Pierre, we have been making her shipshape and readied for departure. We hope to have the mast installed tomorrow and with any luck we should have some sailing done by week's end.

My daily logs will be posted through this account. The last couple of seasons were posted on Steem's sister blockchain, HIVE. Having never been much of a supporter of the fork there was a reluctance for me to follow things there... yet many of my online friendships were with people who bought into the fork. Recent drama on that chain has prompted my return.
If you are interested to see what has been happening with me since my departure from Steem, some years ago, you can find an index of those posts here.
