NASA Flies Helicopter to Monitor Mars Conditions
NASA's plans to know the details of Mars are reportedly maturing. Latest, the United States space agency was planning to include a helicopter when the trip to the Red Planet is really done.
Quoted from The Verge, Tuesday (15/05/2018), NASA will also bring a small autonomos helicopter in flight to Mars which is planned to be done in 2020.
Later, the helicopter will fly around in the NASA atmosphere that is 10 times thinner than Earth.
Helicopter design named Mars Helicopter has been done for four years by Jet Propulsion Laboratory NASA. However, when it can not be decided when the helicopter will be flown.
Nevertheless, the so-called helicopter will not affect the mission of flight to Mars. If this helicopter succeeds, it will probably be able to help the mission to Mars because it can record video in a bird-eye position, something that can not be done before.
Not impossible, this helicopter can be used to explore unreached territory before. The plan, helicopters will be pinned under the rover flown to Mars
Once arrived at the Red Planet, the helicopter will find the right place to start flying and flying.
But keep in mind, because the distance between Earth and Mars is very far, the given command takes several minutes to be received by helicopter.
"The idea of a helicopter flying on another planet is very exciting," said NASA member Jim Bridenstine, "Mars Helicopter offers many opportunities for the future development of Mars science, inventions and missions."
For your information, the mission to Mars is planned to be done in 2020, precisely in July. When on schedule, the spacecraft launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida, United States will arrive on Mars in February 2021.
