Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro claims that the country raised $ 735 million on the first day of the sale of its cryptocurrency Petro. The number of funds raised became known late Tuesday evening from the official Twitter Maduro, although the President did not provide any evidence to support the data.

Reuters and the Associated Press said there was no information on who invested during the token pre-sale. However, Maduro made positive comments about the initiative, which he announced in December with the intention to use Petro to get rid of the sanctions imposed by the US government.

Presales Petro was launched on Tuesday and is scheduled to be completed next month.

As Maduro reported earlier, each Petro token will be supported by one barrel of oil and will be tied to the market price of Venezuelan oil of the previous day.

However, there are still questions about which network the token will be used in, given that one document published today allocates the #Ethereum network, and the other, which makes up the buyer's guide, refers to the nem blockchain.

Leaning aside all the conflicts associated with the launch of Petro, Venezuela is the first country to release a national cryptocurrency.
