Secret about Tardigrade Super Strong 'Water Bear' [part.1]
One day, people know this disaster will come, but there is nothing they can do. A star 4,000 light-years away met the end of his life in a powerful cosmic explosion known as Supernova. The exploding star also sends out Gamma-ray bursts all over the galaxy, a wave of energy that is so massive and dangerous to all life forms on Earth. And when this wave of energy reaches and hits the Earth, it will strip the Earth's Ozone layer and cause extreme climatic changes and freeze the planet Earth, of course, eventually this disaster wipes out all life on Earth.
Hmmm actually, not everything anyway ...
Just as the extinction of Dinosaurs also helped give way to the rise of mammals (and later humans), the gamma-ray burst created a path for something else. For example, if we are part of an expedition sent by an alien civilization to see and observe whether any survivors of the disaster, imagine we are flying our plane through a collection of black clouds until we finally see the scene of destruction, the empty city with the rest -the remaining partially damaged skyscrapers, waterlogged subway lines, damaged fields, dead forests, corpses lying, and suppose no one can survive such a catastrophe.
Secret about Tardigrade Super Strong 'Water Bear'
But soon we will see them. There are so many of them, billions. Who are they? Humans call them by the name of "Tardigrade" or "Water Bear". In the past, scientists thought they were funny, adorable creatures.
Beginning with the discovery of humans upon them in 1773, humans then began to perform a series of "tortures" on them. For example, burned alive, dried, frozen, and many other tortures they get. However, where did the "torturers" dressed in white with such a weak body? Oh yes, those weak humans have become ashes and are now under the feet of tardigrade when this creature becomes the only organism that survives and controls the planet Earth.
Tardigrade in a microscope field
Tardigrade is an animal. A very, very, very small animal. The other name is "Water Bear", because some people think it looks like Panda / Bear (if Panda or bear is microscopic and has eight legs). This animal has no spinal structure, but even so, it does not diminish its cute appearance. You could say Tardigrade is a candidate for invertebrate creatures with the most adorable appearance ever.
The name Tardigrade comes from the Latin word meaning "Slow Walker". They are about 1/100 inch long (500 micrometers) in length and can be seen with the naked eye if we have good vision and with the right lighting conditions. But this animal also has a transparent body and of course this makes it more difficult for us if we want to see it, therefore a microscope is the best choice to see it.
