Why Do We Have Eyebrows? If According to Experts, this is the answer

Living things, including humans, do evolve. Though not exactly the extreme theory of Darwinian evolution, which says we are from monkeys. But some of our bodily structures do change a bit, following the natural selection that exists, according to what is the custom of each generation.

The longer, the forehead and the human face structure are smoother than its predecessors. Surprisingly, the existence of eyebrows is increasingly smooth and neat in modern humans.
why can eyebrows be thinner and tidier?

1. Eyebrows are very easy to move it can help modern humans communicate with others in a non-verbal

This argument is presented in a paper recently published in Nature Ecology and Evolution. This theory puts us on an evolutionary advantage over other human species (more ancient human classification). In contrast, the eyebrows of our ancient cousins, like Neanderthals, are more of a "sexual dimorphic appearance" that resembles the function of the stag horn.

2. Experts arrive at this conclusion using the skull of Homo heidelbergensis, the Neanderthal mandible and 3D modeling software

Similar to programs used by engineers to design buildings and bridges. Using virtual scans, teams were able to adjust the shape of the skull, to test the existing theory, about why ancient human species had thick eyebrows. It is not intended to support the skull structure or to improve the mechanism of the bite, as previously thought. Experts suspect that the big eyebrows serve as a very special social function, that is to show dominance.

3. Eyebrow used to be used as a marker of power, while the eyebrows in the present more functioning in the delivery of friendly expression because we are more connected to each other socially

Paul O'Higgins, Professor of Anatomy at the University of York and lead researcher, explains this in a statement. According to him, a more vertical eyebrow change in modern humans, allows us to display more friendly emotions, which help shape social bonds between individuals.

Approximately 100,000 years ago, social networks began to flourish, human groups began to diversify and it made evolutionary feelings to prioritize hospitality rather than aggression. That's why modern humans have smaller and flat eyebrows and can move smoothly, as we know now.

4. Eyebrow movement allows us to express complex emotions, and feel the emotions of others

This opinion was raised by one of the researchers, Penny Spikins, from the Department of Archeology at the University of York. The rapid eyebrow movement is a cross-cultural sign of recognition and openness to social interaction. While the movement pulls our eyebrows to the middle is a sympathy expression.

A small eyebrow movement is also a key component to identifying trust or deception. On the other hand, we also know that people who inject botox, make it limit the movement of eyebrows. So they are less able to empathize and identify the emotions of others.
