Understanding God's Kind Of Love

A wise man once said that if the meaning and purpose of a thing is not known that abuse is inevitable. Why many people had failed in their love life (relationship with people) and are still failing is that they did not understand the meaning and purpose of God’s kind of love.

God’s kind of love is the kind of love that we received in our recreated human spirit when we give our life to Jesus Christ (Rom 5:5; "for God's love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us"). There are other types of love but my interest is the one that is given to every believer which is agape love.

What is God’s kind of love?

1 John 4:8-10:
“But if a person isn't loving and kind, it shows that he doesn't know God-for God is love. God showed how much he loved us by sending his only Son into this wicked world to bring to us eternal life through his death. In this act, we see what real love is: it is not our love for God but his love for us when he sent his Son to satisfy God's anger against our sins.”

Romans 5:8:
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

John 15:12-17:
This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this than to lay down one's life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. These things I command you, that you love one another.
What then is God’s kind of love?

· God’s kind of love is not selfish.
· God’s kind of love seeks the interest of others.
· God’s kind of love means living for others.
· God’s kind of love is having a deep affection for people.
· God’s kind of love is not motivated by any selfish desire or benefit. It is only motivated by the conscious desire that it will benefit another person.
· God’s kind of love is unconditional. You love not for personal gain. You love because it is your nature.
· God’s kind of love is not deceptive but sincere.
· God’s love is not a function of external influences. It is an internal decision that is a function of internal nature.

Having an understanding of what the love of God means is a must for every believer. Like the wise man’s saying that I quoted earlier which said that if the meaning and purpose of a thing is not known that abuse is inevitable, so also if you don’t understand the meaning of God’s love, you will likely abuse it. As I said earlier, you have this love in your recreated spirit. All you need to do is submit yourself to the Holy Spirit for empowerment to love. Decide today to love and the Holy Spirit will take it up from there.
