The Diary Game: Trying A New Recipe And Feeling Like A Chef (11-12-2025)

Today, I woke up on the right side of my day. I woke up with so much energy and I knew that my day would be great. I affirmed that and I turned out well for me. I got into to gym wears and headed to the gym. I did my regular morning run before meeting with my guys at the gym. It's always an engaging and fun time at the gym.

I went to my friend's house after work out. He got a new hanger and he asked me to help him fix it. At first glance, it looked for easy to fix but it took two young boys an hour to figure out how to fix an hanger. Afterwards, we had fruits. Paw paw is one of my favorites fruits especially when it's not so ripe.

On my way home from my friend's place, I saw a food vlog on my phone. This lady prepared Afang Soup with okra. Immediately, I wanted to try the recipe. I've never tested Afang with okra but I was open to trying new things. I stopped by the roadside market to get some ingredients. I got Afang leaves, waterleaf, fish, okra, cow skin, stick fish, periwinkles, oyster and seasoning cubes. I can't slice Afang, so I had to give it to market women to slice. For the oyster the trader and took it from the shell already.

The first thing I did when I got home was to have my bath. After bathing, I got dressed and went into the kitchen. I blended the Afang and sliced the waterleaf. At least I tried my best to slice it into tiny pieces.

I went ahead to slice the okra. At this point, I had a rethink. I thought to myself, do I really want to add this? What if It doesn't go down well with my system. Them this trending TikTok song came to my mind, "If I perish, I perish". That being said, I went ahead with my preparation.

I checked if I had enough gas in my cylinder before beginning to cook. I steamed the proteins. I had a recipe and I made sure I used it. When the proteins were properly cooked, I added a little more than water, I went in with more seasoning cubes, salt, pepper and crayfish. I covered the pot. I added palm oil and okra.

I went in with my waterleaf a minute, I turned in the Afang. I stirred until it gave a good mix. Tasted and everything was on point. The oil wasn't enough so I added more. At this point, the aroma was everywhere and I was already feeling like a great cook.

I love the touch of the okra in the soup. It's bad that my camera is not doing justice to the food. I also gave my neighbor a portion of the food. My friend came around as well and we ate together. For the first time, he acknowledged that I prepared a delicious meal. Now it has been confirmed that I am a great cook. You should taste my meal one day.
