The Diary Game: Cooking At A Child's Christening Ceremony (07-12-2025)

Hello my wonderful steemit family. It's @mamauduak here again and today, I will be sharing my Sunday's experience with you. How are you doing? This morning, I was up before 5am. My choir director called me very early to come and assist in preparing food for the his son's christening. I got dressed and headed to his place. It wasn't so far from my house, so I trekked down. I met him, his wife and his mother in-law in the kitchen.

They had all the ingredients set and ready for the preparation of Afang soup. The Afang leaf had already been sliced and pounded. I quickly washed the water leaf and sliced it. Another woman from the church came to assist. I asked her to start preparing sauce for the rice.

I began making the soup. While the steaming the proteins, I parboiled rice while, the other lady that was preparing the rice sauce. I went ahead to slice the plantain and I cut them into smaller pieces ready to cook. The makeup artist came to work on the mother of baby to be dedicated.

I finished preparing the soup and assisted the lady in making the rice. The lady finished with her makeup and she was ready to go church. She was really looking pretty. We hyped her and encouraged her to eat, so she would have strength to sustain her for the day.

While they left to church, I dished the food into coolers for different units in the church. I waited for the driver to come and pick up cooler and take it to the church.

The driver arrived and we loaded the car and he left. A guy later came with crates of drinks, which he donated to the family. I had to call the man and inform him. He thanked the guy over the phone. I left and went back to the house to get ready for church.

My children had left to church already and they left with the house key. I had to send someone to church to call them. I had my bath, got dressed and went to church. The jubilation in church was amazing.

A lot of people turned up for baby Jason's christening. I really enjoyed the service. A lot of people made donations and the parents were really excited. Their smile and body language said it all. After service, food was shared to everyone. Everyone went home really happy. I just a plate of rice as well as my children. Thank you for reading. Have a food night's rest
