The Diary Game: New Year!! New Beginnings (01-01-2026)
Happy New Year everyone. It's a new season and new beginnings. A season of love, peace, greatness and favour. God will surely keep us throughout the year. Everything good shall work in our favour. I'm really grateful to God for his love and mercy over my family. He's been too good to my family and I. I woke up with a grateful heart. It's hasn't been easy but I saw God come through for me in every scene. As usual, we went for morning devotion. We decided to start the year with God, the author and finisher of our faith. We went to church for fasting and prayers. We stayed in church till noon. I return home to meet my elder sister and my mom. I was really surprised because I wasn't expecting them. My sister has travelled to her husband's village and my mum was not also in town.
My mum, sister and I
Exchanged pleasantries and I took them in. My kids were so excited to see them. They were all over their grandma. While they were gisting and playing, I went in to prepare brunch. I decided to make Afang Soup. It's one of my mum's favorite. I had all the ingredients ready for the soup and well as steaming the meat. My sister came to the kitchen to assist. I had already sliced the Afang leaf and left it in the refrigerator. She helped me to pound it, while I washed and sliced the waterleaf.

While my sister was in the kitchen with me, by mum and her grandchildren were together. This house was filled with laughter, joy and love. I really loved the atmosphere around. My sister told me about her visit to her inlaws. She kept on praising them over and over again. The smile on her face while she was talking about them was contagious. With her in the kitchen, cooking was made easy.
Food is ready
My sister set the table and I dished the food. After serving, I went in to have my bath. I joined them in the dinner after showering. We talked about a lot of things. Everyone spoke about their new year plans. Things may not go as easy as we picture it but, I know for a fact that everything will work out in our favour. After eating, my children helped clear the table. My mum came with gift for everyone. My kids were so excited. They were screaming on their voices. I got my gift as well.

They stayed till evening, when my husband returned. My children didn't want their grandma to go. The last born even cried when she left. If not that school is resuming on Monday, I would have allowed her to go with my mum. I love having my family around and this was just the best way to start a new year. Thank you so much for reading.
