SLC-S32/W6 | Frames of My World : A Frame With a Story

Hello friends, I hope you are all well. For the last week of the Steemit Challenge contest, I will be sharing visit to a meaningful place. I would like to thank the organizers of this challenge, and without further delay, I am starting my participation.

Where is this place located, and when did you visit it?

This place is located in the Sitakunda Pourashava (municipality) area, and it is the Sitakunda Upazila Parishad. Local people know these types of offices very well because, in rural areas, government matters are resolved here. The reason I selected this place for my content is that I have had both good and bad experiences here, and it has taught me a lot.

This place has taught me many lessons. Coming here, Citizen have witnessed corruption, but I have also seen some honest people who are deeply responsible toward their duties. Ordinary people like me who live in rural areas have had to visit this Parishad at some point or another. Bangladesh is divided into a total of 64 districts, and every district has one such Upazila Parishad.

Why is this place meaningful or memorable to you?

This place will always remain meaningful to me because I have visited it many times for my education-related documents work. I was also fortunate enough to meet the former UNO (Upazila Nirbahi Officer) and receive an honor from here. Moreover, I have come to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer's building numerous times for various family matters to get the work done.

Since this is the Sitakunda Upazila Parishad, people have to come here to receive all kinds of government citizen services, including creating documents related to their life history, getting necessary signatures, and obtaining government approvals. People leave this place with both good and bad experiences. I won't say that I always had a good experience here; alongside the good, I have also witnessed corruption.

What special experience or emotional moment is connected to this place?

This place will remain a special experience for me because the work and events of several offices here are memorable to me. First, I am sharing an incident that happened at the land office of this Parishad. A close relative of mine came here to officially resolve a land survey-related issue.

However, by a cruel twist of irony, corruption here had reached such an extreme level that they ended up losing to a wealthy and influential person. A hearing was held here one day, and I saw with my own eyes how this person's last remaining piece of land was taken over by that influential individual. This happened because the land officer did not perform his duty correctly and illegally handed over one person's land to another, solely in exchange for benefits.

How do your photographs help tell this story?

If you look at my photographs, it will be clearly understood that this is a government service center. In my post, I have shared photography of several buildings, and the signage on the front of the buildings specifies what kind of work is done there. Locals who have definitely visited such offices located in their respective districts will surely recognize it.

Through my pictures, I have captured the environment of the Upazila office, and those who have visited these offices will be able to relate to the stories. Ordinary people come here with a lot of hope and reliance to get their work done. In many cases, when people do not receive proper service, they end up blaming the government or the system.

If someone else visited this place, what message or feeling would you hope they experience?

If anyone else visits this place, they will understand that it is a government public service office that provides opportunities for ordinary people to get services for free or at a nominal fee. However, only those who have already visited can tell how many types of irregularities occur here. So many illegal things happen out of the government's sight.

Particularly because corruption is deeply ingrained in the core of some officers here, ordinary people do not get their services properly. People have to bribe the officers to get their work done. Therefore, when a citizen comes to visit, they can have many different kinds of both good and bad experiences.
