The smartphone photography has hit a real boom in the past couple of years.
Nowadays, you can buy even lower end smartphones with a solid camera that can take some stunningly good photos. But only if it is done correctly…

Use the grid on your camera

If you don’t want your pictures to look like an amateur took them, you need to spice up your game. You can use the grid system on your phone camera to incorporate the rule of thirds, which means not to put the object of your photo in the center, but on the side of the picture (left or right third) therefore creating a nice composition of the entire shot.

Don’t use zoom

One of the reasons why camera phones can’t replace DSLR cameras is because of the lens limitations on your phone. This device of yours doesn’t have the movable lens and therefore can only use digital zoom within the app which in the end affects the image quality.

Instead of zooming in, just move closer to the object.

Lightning is important

Lightning is very important in a professional photography, and this has even more importance when it comes to a smartphone photography. Because of the natural limitations of your phone’s lens, you will need to avoid low light conditions if you want to avoid noise and grain on your photos.

You can do this by taking photos during the sunny day, or even better on a cloudy day since clouds work as a natural light diffusers. If you take photos during the night, you can use your friend’s phone as an artificial light source.
