Sometimes You Get "Dent and Bent" for a Whole Soap Batch!

Yup, that's right.

Earlier this year, I made two beautiful batches of "romantic" soap. One was "Ombre and Romance for Him" which was complete with blue "raindrops" and the other was "Ombre and Romance for Her" complete with pink "raindrops" and a goat's milk melt-and-pour heart-shaped embed (I think some of you read about this in an earlier blog post).

I thought it would be cute (and humorous) to make the next feature be a kids' collection. After all, who comes along in most cases, after we are romantic? Kids, of course!

So, I set out to make cute embeds of insects and took the time to fill baking cup molds. Then I dressed each top with a piped "frosting" and completed the tops of my cupcakes with an embed. They smelled GREAT (scented in cucumber-melon: a scent I like a lot). Although I was having trouble with getting the embeds out of their molds, I was still hopeful that the completed project would be nice.

But the trouble came when it was time to remove each cupcake from it's mold. I'm telling you what -- those pink cupcake cups are the wrong molds! The soap inside the cup was still too wet to work with! I think the soap couldn't "breathe" in there. The soap was cute but not sell-worthy as a "regular" item -- just as a "dent and bent" item only.

So today, I listed them at a discounted price on Ebay. I hope they find a few fun homes because they are still cute and useful.

They were made for kids, it's true -- but they look like they were made BY a kid! Ha! Well, they WERE made by a kid. A big kid: ME!
