Natural Balance in the Universe (philosophical ponderings)
Have you ever considered a force in the universe that balances?
A Force that seeks rectify opposing poles, to reach harmony and congruence among all things? This force has been previously referred to by past philosophers as the "Yin and the Yang" the "male and female". One cannot exist without the other, life and death, light and dark, the Force- whether it be 'Good' or 'Evil'.
With this basic and common knowledge in our minds, allow me to infer a new theoretical possibility, and that is... the tragic plight of the Geniuses among Geniuses.
There exists a very select minority of humanity (the 1% of the 1%) that tends to receive extreme intellectual abilities and/or powers. These individuals also are often "gifted" with extremely debilitating physical conditions, ending their lives prematurely, or at least hindering it a great deal.
My hypothesis is that this "mysterious Force that seeks to balance all things" (which I have yet given a name, due to its entirely theoretical and thus non-factual nature) tends to "reward" people that accomplish great intellectual (and sometimes social or spiritual) feats, with premature death, physical, or mental illness.
Let's examine a couple of case-in-points, the list is many to choose from, but I will choose three to digress upon:
A. Stephen Hawking was a brilliant theoretical physicist, and a man whom I admire and respect deeply. He brought us knowledge out of the depths of his mind about the nature of the Universe. He was also diagnosed with a terminal illness early in his career, that debilitated him for the rest of his life. But his fighting spirit did not cave, and he continue to write and teach.
B. Another, lesser known man is Hal Finney. Hal Finney is widely believed to be the real "Satoshi Nakamoto", creator of bitcoin, and liberator of humanity. Bitcoin was released in 2008, Finney died in 2011. Satoshi's wallet STILL has 1M $btc . These have been yet to cashed in, which would have made Satoshi the richest man in the universe, already. Yet, he hasn't. Thus it is believed that it was Finney who created Bitcoin whom was also struck down by "God" with a terminal illness that left him in a wheelchair and being spoon-fed in his last days.
C. Nicola Tesla. This man contributed more to humanity's electrical advancement than his counterpart Edison, who everyone knows, yet this man died in relative poverty and obscurity. As of late, his achievements have been receiving more recognition, due to Elon Musk naming his car company after the man. In any case, this is a prime example of not a physical, but mental illness that debilitated him. Later in life, he became obsessed with the number 3, to such a degree that everything he did had to revolve around the number 3, be multiples of the number 3, or divisible by 3. OCD on steroids. Whether or not there is some universal significance to the number 3, or any number for that matter is besides the point; the fact that it interfered with his day-to-day activities was debilitating in itself.
The list goes on an on of "geniuses among geniuses" in whatever category; Art, Poetry, Science, Social Justice, etc... whatever the case may be, many names throughout history off the top of my dome; Edgar Allen Poe (alcoholism to the extreme), Van Gogh (cut off his own fucking ear), Beethoven (greatest composer, yet deaf, and depressed af), Michelangelo (autism/asperger's), ad infinitum.
This brings me back to my original point. It seems to me that a great many of our "gifted" are just as "cursed" as well. My hypothesis is that this is a Natural Rectification in the Order of Things to Seek Balance. Is this the result of humanity attempting to eat from the Tree of Knowledge and being swiftly corrected for it? I will leave that question to the theologians; I do not know.
Of course this could all be pure happenstance, surely there are many "geniuses among geniuses" that have lived perfectly healthy, normal lives, amirite? Of course there have been, but my question to you is; did they truly go deep and touch the fabric of the universe with their minds? I doubt if anyone knows the answer to such questions.
They say moderation is the key, but what is moderation? Moderation is an attempt to seek Balance. Have you ever seen a thing that balances? Of course you have, it almost seems like magic how a little thing can sit on top of something, without falling off while having just a bit of itself to rest there.
Perhaps we should seek more balance in all things, may we never go too far to the right, or too far to the left, and may we always attempt to find the Center; and Be Centered.
That's all I got, thank you for reading this far.
