In 2017 there was the great admiration of the solar eclipse of the month of August in the United States and as we will see this 2018 will not be left behind in terms of astronomical phenomena. For this 2018 a great diversity of astronomical phenomena is expected, in this list I will mention some of the most important:

  • Supermoons and Lunar Eclipse: in the month of January we could observe when the moon approaches the closest point with the earth, this happened on January 1 and 2. But also on January 31, a lunar eclipse was observed that was seen specifically in North America and Southeast Asia.

  • Partial Solar Eclipse: according to NASA for January 15th a partial solar eclipse will be observed that will be seen in parts of Antarctica, Argentina and Chile.

  • Blue Moon: for March 2 and 31 you can see 2 full moons in a phenomenon called Blue Moon which is very rare.

  • Líridas: the Líridas are a light rain of luminous trails, when the Earth traverses the remains of the comet C / 1861 G1 Thatcher can be seen from midnight, they can be seen from April 16 to 25, and its maximum point will be between on the 22nd and 23rd of that month.

  • Tears of Halley: is known as Tears of Halley to the remains of the famous comet Halley, these will be able to be seen in the whole planet between the 6th and the 7th of May.

  • Saturno: this planet will approach the Earth during the month of June and can be seen throughout the night, due to the brightness of Saturno the medium telescopes will be able to observe some of their satellites.
