Tchami — the DJ who baptized me into a new culture

in #spiritual6 years ago

One of the many topics Honest-Assholes will cover is the EDM scene. Because this week was so busy for everyone on the team we haven’t been able to load any content. So, here is our introduction to the Parisian DJ Tchami.

If you look closely at this image you will notice he is wearing a clerical collar with an all black shirt to resemble a priest. Tchami likes to think of music as something very spiritual, which is one of the reasons he dresses similar to that of a religious spiritual leader. Like myself, Tchami believes that music has the power to heal and to be used as a source of motivation for everyday life. He also thinks it looks cool, which it does.I remember the first time I heard a Tchami track… before my first EDM music festival, before I even listened to house music I heard this song at a daylong (day drinking party):

I have never heard music so brilliantly produced since my obsession with My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. The time I first started to listen to Tchami was Freshmen year of college. Tchami was pretty small at the time, but since then has blown up- appearing on the main stage at some of the biggest festivals in the world, including Ultra Miami. What I found so profound about his music was his drops. Tchami specializes in Future House, which is a mixture of deep house, UK garage and other techniques of EDM. I like to describe tchami’s sound as a new age house with some funk, a lot of soul, and a little hip-hop music. Shufflers love this kind of music because of the way your able to follow the beat with your feet. I actually learned how to shuffle by constantly listening to Tchami’s music and also seeing him perform.I remember one time at Electric Zoo, Tchami was performing at Main Stage. As his set got underway it started to drizzle. The mixture of lights, rain, and music was something that hit me deep in my soul (not to mention a little acid ). Right behind the stage you could see the New York skyline. To me it looked like the buildings were bouncing up and down to the beat almost as if I entered the spiritual realm of house music. I’ll never forget when Tchami started to play ‘You know you like it’ Remix, I stopped dancing and looked around the crowd to see everyone getting down. Not one person was on their phones or talking to their friends… that is what Tchami does to a crowd. His melodic rhythm’s take you on a spiritual house journey.I have put on many of my friends to this revolutionary DJ and all have found it to be a truly unique and beautiful sound. Once you hear Tchami you wont be able to deny house music any longer. I encourage anybody that is feeling experimental to check it out.
