Bede, The Father Of English History
Bede was an English monk, who at age 7 joined Wearmouth Abby – a Benedictine monastery in England – as an oblate. He remained there till his last breath.
He's a major source of information about early Anglo-Saxon culture, and authored the first history of Christianity in England.
History of the English Church and Its People, is his most important work out of about 40 works that he completed in his life.
