The University Stadium of Caracas - Venezuela

in #sports6 years ago

It is a multipurpose sports infrastructure, commonly used for the practice of baseball. It was designed by the famous Venezuelan architect Carlos Raúl Villanueva as part of an infrastructure complex belonging to the University City of Caracas. The work was built to house the Bolivarian Sports Games and inaugurated by the then Venezuelan President, Marcos Pérez Jiménez. Like the Olympic Stadium of the Central University of Venezuela, the initial capacity of the baseball stadium of the Central University of Venezuela reached 30,000 people sitting, taking advantage of the stands where there were no seats. The capacity decreased to 25,000 people from a remodeling in the structure to expand the playing field, removing some rungs in the lower part of the stands. This work was carried out in preparation for the Pan-American Olympic Games in Caracas 1983. Currently, its operation and maintenance is carried out by the UCV Foundation. It is home to professional baseball teams: Leones del Caracas and Tiburones de La Guaira. Its current dimensions are: 345 foot by the bands and 385 foot by the center.
