Official: Aníbal Sánchez signs with the Minnesota Twins
The Minnesota Twins announced that they have awarded him a one-year contract with Venezuelan right-hander Anibal Sanchez.
According to a source confirmed to MLB.com, the contract has a minimum value of US $ 2.5 million, but it is not guaranteed, which means that Sanchez will have to compete for a roster position during the preseason. The agreement includes another $ 2.5 million in incentives.
Sanchez, 33, will seek to revive his career after being 10-20 with a 6.09 ERA for the Tigers in the last two seasons. However, Sanchez gave good marks in his last four starts for Detroit, where he posted a 2.74 earned run average and struck out 31 batters in 23 innings of play.
