Avs Embarrass the Wild... Again
The advantage of running this blog on Steemit means that if I don't want to talk about something, then nobody is breathing down my neck forcing me to do it.
That game was absolutely piss weak. There's no other way to describe it, although Bruce Boudreau tried when asked if he had to explain to the boys that it was a key game against a divisional rival that they should be up for.
“I don’t have to send a message. If they don’t know how important this game is, then we’re all up a creek.”
After losing 5-1 at home, he obviously did.
Yuck.
Jared Spurgeon out for a Month
It's been confirmed that Minnesota's (arguably) top defenseman will miss at least a month with a hamstring injury. This means that he wont play again before the playoffs.
After cannoning into the boards in the corner, Spurgeon actually injured himself. He lost an edge and pretty much did the splits.
You could immediately see Spurgeon was in trouble and that proved to be the case as he had to be escorted off the ice, unable to put any weight on his leg.
Spurgeon's 37 points (9 goals and 28 assists) in 60 games this season will certainly be missed, but it's his defensive decision making and pass out options where the Wild will miss him the most. Minnesota have covered a top defensemen before this season already when Brodin was out, so it's something that we at least know they can do.
This will likely mean that Olofsson will likely slot into the lineup, while Ryan Murphy has been called up from the AHL's Iowa Wild. Murphy had 1 goal and 1 assist in 9 games with Minnesota earlier this season so will provide the depth.

Spurgeon is the most underrated defensmen in the league. Huge blow.
We covered Brodin earlier in the year and we'll be able to cover again.
