BLOG: What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas
What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas
How good is Bruce Boudreau!
Seriously, the man is not only a quality hockey coach and all round good guy, but he's also a sports journalist's dream. Check out his answer when he was asked why Vegas might have such a great home record:
“There’s more to do than in Buffalo."
Ohh burnnn! Yeah, take that Buffalo, you shithole!
But seriously, what an answer. He did continue with a little more of a serious tone:
"There’s a lot of young players on every team and a lot of those young players have never been here. I think walking around and sightseeing sometimes takes the focus off the game a little bit.”
Groups of young men with high disposable income available to go crazy, was and will always remain the risk of having a Vegas professional sports team. You could assume that the allure of the strip might be a little too much for some of the younger players on visiting NHL teams, which might just affect their performance the following night.
But with the Minnesota Wild locked in a staunch battle for the playoffs, they're here for business. Stalock, who will start for Wild in Vegas had this to say:
“I think guys came in and got to enjoy it a little bit. At the same time, we had an 11 o’clock curfew. We know where we’re at, so it was fine.”
With Jason Zucker returning home, there is even more motivation for the Wild and I'm expecting them to get the job done against a team they seem to match up well against.
Let's play hockey!
