RE: What do we do with Tony Ferguson?

in #sports7 years ago (edited)

Nate Diaz comes to mind but I don't want to see Nate vs. Any top 5 guy until he gets a win under his belt because he has been away for so long.

Off topic a little but I would like to see Nate vs. Laquinta. Al Laquinta deserves another big name for steeping in against Khabib and Nate needs to fight someone at the bottom or just outside of the top 10 due to his absence from the division. It' s a winnable fight for both fighters and springs the winner into another big fight.

As for Tony ... that's a hard question. I feel as he needs to face someone other then Khabib but who ..... Anthony Pettis could be possible. He is on a skid but is 1-1 in his last two and is a former champion.

Sort:

I think that would be better for nate, to get rid of any ring rust, but I doubt he'd even consider anyone outside the top five at the moment, he sees himself way bigger than he actually is, yeah he is a huge star, but he wouldn't be half the name he is if it wasn't for McGregor.

Agreed, Nate doesn't want to face anyone but Conor. While Nate is a star he simply doesn't generate the big bucks and only way he gets paid anywhere near the money he wants is in a trilogy match vs. Conor. Problem is that Conor currently has tons of options in front of him and Nate has waited too long to get back in the cage.

Yeah and I doubt Conor wants to come back to a fight as tough as that for him. Nate only needs one or two big victorys to get into title contention, he needs to get back to work and the third Conor fight will come naturally.
