Nick Newell is one step closer to a UFC contract
Congenital Amputee Nick Newell is one step closer to his dream. With a 14-1 record, Nick is a seriously good Mixed Martial Artist and has really proven that time and time again, with his only loss coming from Justin Gaethje.
Nick will appear on Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series this summer and will finally get a shot at a UFC contract after years of campaigning.
Here MMA journalist Luke Thomas gives his thoughts (which I strongly agree with) on the situation.
Nick Newell Becomes XFC Champ
Nick fights at Lightweight and he is for sure UFC ready, I genuinely think he will fair better than most guys would, he could easily become a top 10 contender for sure.
I'm not sure he would be able to break the top five, but it would be a lot more competitive than people think. I am hopeful for his future and I think we will see Nick in the UFC by next year.

Thanks for checking this out, just a quick one today. Do you think Nick should be aloud compete in the UFC? Leave your thoughts below.

I’m really happy that he’s managed to get onto the contender series, it’s becomig a great platform for fighters to enter the UFC , I don’t think he will beat anyone in the top ten because the lightweight devision in particular is stacked. Same could be said about many lightweights though, his story will be an inspirational one regardless.
100%, it's already an inspiration, how he has even gotten this far is crazy, such respect.
If CM Punk got a contract, he should definitely get one too...
no shit eh
That actually makes loads of sense haha, didn't even think about that.
Hmmm, he is definitely an elite level athlete and martial artist but i don't know about this one, i can see how having one arm can be a disadvantage but it can also be an advantage like in the video of him winning the XFC title, i don't practise BJJ but imo the guy was trying to fight Newell's hands to release the choke but there is no hand there also arm bars and omaplata's on his left side and certain transitions would be impossible. So tbh my conclusion would be that; no he should not be in the UFC...
I can see where you are coming from alright. I seen a video a while back where he demonstrates how he compensates for different defenses, I'm tryna find it but can't see it anywhere.
.
I agree...this is what the problem will be. Its only a win-win situation for Nick, but a loose-loose one for his opponent...but he deserves his shot after 14-1
I dunno man, I think if he was fresh into MMA I would agree with you, but he's got a serious record and the guys he's fighting are no joke. His only loss was to Gaethje during his 18 fight win streak, and nobody was gonna beat gaethje then.
.
I have genuinely thought about, If he was making his debut I probably wouldn't, but his record is excellent, and he so good.
That's wild! Lets see if he can win at this level!
It will be interesting man, I'm really excited for it, he's insanely good.
i love to see UFC matches and effort overcome challenges very well..
Yeah it always amazing when you see what they go through to accomplish their dreams.
it true
hundy percent.
@thecryptkeeper what a fight , reality based fights i some time become scare how thy hit another ,in first photo hard work is key of success..
You will enjoy watching him fight for sure, he's great.
no doubt..i do.
Awesome, you think he'll do any good in the big show?
yes ..i hope so.i am waited for that time..
Yeah I hope so too man.
Thanks for sharing this.
I hope he makes it ..
No prob man, I really think he will, it all depends on who they give him. Also you can win on that show and still not get offered a contract.
this is fantasy ! Why spur on hope for the disabled ! What are you trying to prove ? Why remove capable fighter when he in real life scenario would get killed for not being able to run fast ! not balance to reach long distances in sprints ! Again you just removed an all-arounded complete athletic to make a mockery of the sport ! WHAT IS NEXT
NO-ARMS VS NO-LEGS !
I don't think he will be too successful at the top level but it's far from making a mockery of the sport. He's a legit fighter with a good record and has wins over other legit fighters.
If he had 2 perfectly formed arms, with his record he'd already likely have had a chance at the UFC so why not when he's got just one?
Spur on hope,..?!? the guy is 14-1 with 9 finishes dude. That's exactly the kind of pro record that might get a look from a promotion like the UFC..
@jclark @agr8buzz you are both 100% right. His record is insanely good and he puts dudes away, and definitively. @keyball you should check out some of his footage man if you haven't already, he's legit man, he could easily have been offered a straight contract and I wouldn't have been surprised really. There is also no rule in MMA as to how many limbs you have, if you can fight you can fight.
He's great..amazing..
Inspiration.
