Four potential solutions to Chelsea's attacking struggles

Summer signing Alvaro Morata is without a goal in his last three Premier League games, while Eden Hazard's form has tailed off too which has led to their poor play in the final third while tiredness has seemingly also been an issue.
Staying with the back three

When analysing the current Chelsea side, it's easy enough to point to the liberal rate at which Conte employs defensive personnel as the reason Chelsea can't score consistently. A back three is really a back five and, adding the defensive midfield role of Kante, it leaves only Fabregas, Hazard and Morata as players with a specific attacking role. Logically, it makes sense that Conte could remove one of the three centre-backs in search of adding more firepower up front.

Playing 3-4-3 (and using Willian)

The shift to 3-5-2 has been powered by a need to increase their midfield presence and incorporate Fabregas: his defensive liabilities mean he doesn't fit a two-man midfield. On the positive side, his long-range passing has been a valuable asset, while Hazard is revelling in his role as a no.10. While it's near impossible to contain the Belgian, it hasn't stopped defences man marking, double-teaming and kicking him relentlessly. Reincorporating Willian may be an answer to this problem.

Ross Barkley

As things stand, Chelsea are crying out for a playing in the mould of ex-club legend Frank Lampard: a midfielder who can drive the play forward and bag a few goals to go with it. While Everton supporters might turn their nose up at the idea of Barkley maturing into Lampard Mark II, Chelsea will be hoping for exactly that. The 24-year old Englishman has all the potential to become that advanced midfielder who can aid attacks and Chelsea need someone to support their currently ineffective front two of Hazard and Morata.

Dip into the transfer market for a new striker

Morata's goal-scoring woes have continued to plague him, scoring only once in his last five league starts. It's no surprise the Blues are dipping into the transfer market for a replacement striker. Currently, they’re linked with Andy Carroll. He would give Chelsea a different look up front, potentially replacing some of the physicality that made Diego Costa such a threat last year. However, Caroll obviously doesn't have the class of other potential targets such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Dortmund or Andrea Belotti from Torino.
