Respect to Mikel Obi as he takes a bow out of super eagles in grandstyle.
The super eagles Skipper, John Obi Mikel has hung his boot and retired from national football yesterday after the super eagles finished 3rd in the ongoing AFCON 2019.
Mikel reiterated how he started his national career in Egypt in year 2006 and concluding it in Egypt after 13 years.
He is still active in club football as he recently signed a contract with Trabzonspor where he will earn #670m per annum.
Mikel was the super eagles captain and have displayed his ledearship role on and off the pitch the most memorable one was paying for the national team accommodation during the 2016 Olympics when the Nigerian government failed to live up to their responsibility.
Mikel is 32years old as at the time of retirement and he has won a lot of medals with the team and individually which includes;
The AFCON Gold and Bronze medals
Olympic bronze medal
2005 FIFA World Youth Championship Silver Ball
African Young Player of the Year in the years 2005 and 2006
Left to me Obi is a legend when it comes to Nigeria National football and should be celebrated unlike how low some nigerians rate and talk about him.
