Mohammed Salah could miss out on the 2018 World Cup in Russia
Mohammed Salah might not be leading the pharaohs of Egypt into the action of the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Just 28 days before the kick-off of the most prestigious soccer competition in the world, The egyptian kingpin is feared to have sustained a shoulder injury in the final clash of the European Champions league match between Liverpool and Real madrid.
The injury was sustained by a challenge on him by the Spanish defender and Real Madrid's captain Sergio Ramos, where he had his arm anchored, the big bodied defender fell on his shoulder in that position. He was treated for few minutes but couldn't continue with the match. The audience was left in a very emotional state as Mo-Salah (Egyptian King) leaves the pitch.
It has been a controversial argument between pundits on various social media channels if the challenge on him by Sergio Ramos was intentional. I personally believe that its quite intentional based on the fact that the defender has a history of being very rough in his tackles and will do anything to get the key opponent off the pitch. His absence really affected the liverpool side psychologically, the managed to sustain the game until Mane's 50th minute goal restored a bit of a morale Boost for them.
Jurglen Klopp, Liverpool manager told his post-match press conference: “It’s a serious injury, a really serious injury. He is in the hospital for an X-ray. It’s either the collarbone or the shoulder itself is dislocated. It doesn’t look good, that’s it.” According to NHS a dislocated shoulder take at leat 12 to 16 weeks to recover from and the world cup is just 3 weeks away. The Egyptians will face Uruguay in their first match.
The 25 years old has inspired hope in the Egyptian team as the make it to the world cup for the first time in 18 years. His absence will definitely be catastrophic to their their performance in the world cup.
Mo-Salah has enjoyed the most beautiful season since his career after joining the Liverpool side from Chelsea. This is true with him being the highest goal scorer and the PFA player of the year. Pundits have tipped him to be a contender for FIFA Ballon D'Or. He definitely wont have a strong chance if he misses out on the world Cup. Someone like me will really enjoy to watch him perform his Egyptian Magic in the world cup.
