Ikot Abasi Local Government Area is buzzing with excitement as Governor Umo Eno is set to inaugurate seven grassroots projects, including a 1.6km road, on Friday.

The projects are a testament to the impressive leadership of Governor Eno and the commitment of Hon. Ime Williamson Essien, the Executive Chairman of Ikot Abasi LGA, to improving the lives of residents

Hon. Essien revealed that the inspiration to execute these projects came from Governor Eno's visionary leadership, which has transformed Akwa Ibom State.

The chairman took a documentary team led by Dr. Essien Ndueso, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Research and Documentation, on a tour of the completed projects, showcasing the council's commitment to infrastructural renewal, rural connectivity, and improved living standards.

The 1.6km Ikot Umbiang internal road, which is 7.3m wide, is equipped with 600x600mm concrete drains and double-sided gutters to prevent flooding and enhance durability. The road is expected to ease mobility and stimulate economic activity in the area. The road project is a game-changer for our community," said a resident. "We'll be able to transport our goods and services easily, and it will boost our economy

Another notable project is the Ikot Umbiang Water Project, a 39-meter-high water tank of 250 litres, solar-powered facility capable of supplying water round the clock.

The automated pumping system ensures that the tank refills automatically once the water level drops, guaranteeing a constant supply for residents. "We've suffered from water scarcity for years," said a villager. "This project is a blessing to our community."

The Ikot Okwo Health Centre is another project that's near and dear to Hon. Essien's heart. The facility is designed to serve seven neighboring communities and is fully completed, ready to serve the people. The chairman is partnering with Sterling Global company to equip the facility to operate 24 hours daily. "Healthcare accessibility remains a priority for our administration," he affirmed.

Rural electrification projects spanning Ikot Ikara, Ikot Obio Ekpe, and Iboro communities in Edemaya Clan have also been completed. Each location now benefits from newly installed transformers and power lines, bringing long-awaited electricity to the communities. "Electricity was their greatest need before now," Hon. Essien said. "Today, these communities can finally experience steady power supply."

Residents of Iboro Community confirmed the development, noting that the installation of a 300KVA transformer and new power lines has restored hope and improved local productivity. "We're grateful to the local government for this intervention," a resident said.

The commissioning ceremony will include formal inspection and handover of these projects, followed by the unveiling of new vehicles at the Ikot Abasi Local Government Secretariat and a Town Hall Meeting with community stakeholders. Hon. Essien reaffirmed that these projects reflect the grassroots development vision of the ARISE Agenda championed by Governor Umo Eno, assuring that his administration remains committed to improving infrastructure and service delivery across all wards of Ikot Abasi.

The people of Ikot Abasi are eagerly awaiting the inauguration of these projects, which promise to transform their lives and boost the local economy. As one resident put it, "These projects are a testament to the good governance we're experiencing in Ikot Abasi. We're grateful to Governor Eno and Hon. Essien for their commitment to our community
