The Diary Game [15/11/2025] // A Day of Unplanned Trials and Unyielding Duty.

Hi guys, accept Steem greetings from the motherland-Cameroon and welcome to my blog where I share my daily lifestyle content with you all.

This morning began much earlier than usual. I rushed out of the house before dawn, determined to get to the local market in time to buy the food items we needed for the funeral preparations of my father in law’s best friend. Since my father-in-law was not around, the responsibility fell on us, and I wanted everything to be in order. The market was already stirring when I arrived: traders arranging their goods, the smell of fresh vegetables mixing with the earthy scent of the morning air. I quickly moved from store to store, buying what we needed while keeping an eye on the time. There was still so much to do before we left for the funeral.

After packing everything, we set out for the mortuary with the hope of arriving well before the scheduled time. But the day had other plans for us. Not too far along the road, the car suddenly jerked and slowed to a crawl before stopping completely. A wave of frustration washed over me. We were already tight on time, and this was the last thing we needed. We stepped out into the blazing sun, trying to understand the problem, but it was beyond what we could fix ourselves.

Along the way, the car developed a fault.

Luckily, we found a mechanic nearby who responded almost immediately. He was honest, something rare in moments of urgency. After a quick inspection, he explained exactly what had gone wrong. Though grateful for his transparency, our hearts sank when we realized how much the repair would cost. It was money we had not planned to spend, especially on a day already weighed down with responsibility. Standing by the road, drenched in heat and worry, we had no choice but to authorize the repairs.

The hours slipped away faster than we could keep track of. By the time the car was finally roadworthy again, the mortuary appointment had long passed. We hurried as best as we could, but when we reached the funeral ground, it was already 1:30 PM. The service was almost over. We slipped quietly into the gathering and sat down at the back. The pastor’s voice carried through the speakers, preaching fervently about repentance and the fragility of life. His words felt heavier today, perhaps because we had lived a reminder of life’s unpredictability only hours earlier.

As soon as the service ended, we paid our respects and left. There was no time to linger; exhaustion was beginning to settle into our bones. On the way home, the sun felt even harsher, beating down as we remembered the hours we had spent earlier waiting for the mechanic.

What hurt the most was knowing that the car trouble could have been avoided. A friend had begged to use the car for his wedding recently, and he had handled it poorly. That carelessness ended up costing us both time and money and on such an important day.

By the time we finally reached home, all I wanted was rest. Today reminded me how swiftly plans can crumble, yet somehow we still find the strength to keep moving. Until my next diary session, guys, it is good night from my end.

Days like this are real. When unplanned occurrence comes, the way we handle it will make the memories a reference point.

I thank God that in all you triumphed.
